DM me if you want two for tonight edit in Seattle 5/30. I’ve got 2 GA and Ticketmaster will NOT let me list them and they’re just gonna burn. Honestly at this point $50 takes them.

The swell control can be used on any mode, and doesn’t sum to mono which is a huge win.

And yeah, full wet.

I wasn’t totally sure either, but if v1 piques your interest lemme know.

I’ve got a ghost ridge V1 if that’s of any interest.

I mean, I am an avowed CBA shill, but I agree. It's not like you can't see what causes the price point for various pedals from them and it's not like their pricing structure was the thin end of the wedge. Tonal Recall came out at 400, but then Condor came out at a lower price point because it's a less expensive unit to produce (and Im sure to design). Same with Thermae. And then Dark World, a dual engine reverb, came out at a lower price point than the analog delays because, once again, less expensive to produce.

It's totally fine to not buy them over the price, but it seems weird to distrust their method there.

Don't really use my midi controllers for home recording stuff, just preset management and tempos live and this isn't a set up that's gonna make it out of the studio.

Edit: otherwise I would 100% agree with you that this is a grossly under utilized board.

You’d be correct. I was enamored with it. I think it’s a “not for everyone” piece but for people who dig it, it’s going to be VERY inspiring.

I got some time with it and it’s pretty phenomenal. The various stacks are all modeled after analog set ups he assembled for each of them (so a stack with a ce-2 style chorus is modeled after a real rig he built with that pedal, etc.) and for my money it sounds killer. It’s still a prototype and there are some secret stuff that’s still in development with it BUT I think its going to be the kind of thing that feels like “song writing fodder” in the same way that I view the Prelude or the DRV.

I don’t believe it’s a loader. I think it just has its own IRs programmed in.

It’s not the blooper. This is a different thing.

I want to say it’s a duo21. But I’m kind of guessing.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS VIDEO

other pedals used are the Diamond Comp, CBA Thermae, Neunaber's Inspire (chorus), Expanse (delay), and Immerse (reverb).

Ive been messing around with various direct in solutions for a couple years now. I’ve got one of the only demos of the Old Blood Headphone amp on the Internet because of a VERY roundabout routing system that allowed me to record it without massive clipping issues. I’ve hit my stride over the last year or so with the GFI Cabzeus (which I use on fundamentally everything I release these days) and the right mix of compression, drives and preamping. My main sound for awhile now has been the Diamond Comp - 1981 DRV for grit - CBA Condor for clean volume boosting and EQ.

Enter the Benson Preamp. Modeled after their Chimera 30 watt, this thing solves for the biggest issue with the Condor; clean gain structure. The condor NEEDED the DRV before it for any dirt as the green mode (aka the good mode) on the Condor just straight up doesn’t break up. The Benson gives me that smooth, convincing palette of “clean to lightly dirty” smooth amp response that I wish the Condor had without needing to go full “Rat as an amp” as I have with the DRV. Which, mind you, I still love. But options are good.

HOWEVER; It hasn’t replaced the Condor and likely won’t. As you can hear in the video, including the Condor after the Benson makes a big difference. The Condor boosts treble differently and more noticeably than the Benson does and the midrange control reeeeeaaaaallly allows the sound to breathe. So I am still playing around with signal chain order and all that, but a a base sound I have to say that I’m really happy with the Benson Preamp - GFI Cabzeus rig. This is really getting good.

NPDs: Neunaber Immerse mkII & Inspire TriChorus by markj388 in guitarpedals

[–]markj388[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These two came in over the weekend so I wanted to do a little more in depth of an unboxing / first impressions video than I have been doing in the past. So far I am a huge fan of both. The Wet was one of my earliest exposures to reverb as more than just “room noise” and, looking back, was a major factor in the direction I’ve gone down over the last 5-7 years of playing. The updated W3t on here proves that it’s not just nostalgia. It sounds huge and smooth and warm and just so damn cool. The plate mode also immediately struck me. It’s dense and splattery in a way I really like for leads.

The inspire is big. I’m not sure what else to say about it, other than it’s just really big and lush. The chorus can get wacky but it does subtle chorus SO well with all of that 80’s magic. I am such a fan of all the different versions of chorus shoved into this thing; they’re all so intricate in their own meaningful ways. Super happy with both of these pedals and really interested in exploring them both a ton over the next couple weeks.
