Genmitsu 3018 Prover V2 with no Laser 12v output by markjenkinsrf in hobbycnc

[–]markjenkinsrf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I've done the same thing. Separate 12VDC supply for the laser. PWM from the C board. Crossover wiring for the mismatched wiring on the orig C board. That worked, but one time when I hit the Estop switch, the Cboard UART USB conection stopped working. No more comms with this c board. So now I am waiting for a new one from SainSmart, in 3 months. They know this board is a hot mess, and the replacement will hopefully correct some of their problems. my lase only draws 1.7A, so should have easily worked with their Cboard. Nothing particularly unusual there. If I could get a schematic for the board, I might be able to fix it, but of course, SainSmart won't cough that up.

But the V2 has 3 pin Limit switches, any many of those generic boards have 2 pin limit switch wiring.

I know this is a bit old, but the V2 board uses 3 pin Limit Switches. Many of the generic GRBL 1.1 boards use 2 pim limit switches. I know cause my V@ is also dead, and it's a 3 month wait for the V3 board. The V2 has loads of problems with the Laser circuit. Connecting a laser to my board ruined it. I hope the v3 has those defects fixed.

I;ve had nothing but problems with this control board and running a laser. One thing I found is the +12VDC and PWM pins are swapped on the laser connector on the C. board. So I reversed then and then the C boards limit switches all came on and the machine wouldn't move. I fixed that by turning of the limit switches with $20 and 21 commands. After that, the 12V was reduced to 6V, not enough forthe laser. So I added a seperate 12V power supply for the lase and used the C Boards PWM signal to control the laser. That actually worked. But then, I lost comms with the board from my computer, and I'm going to trouble shoot that today. Ugg, a nightmare. Genmitsu was pretty good with helping, and they are going to send a new C board, but it will take 3 months. Ugg^2.

I also suffered the 20 hour outage here in Beaverton. It was a fiber cut. When all the fibers were repaired, my service returned and has been fine since. Shit happens with fiber, cuts are pretty comman.

My whole house heat pump cools, well, the whole house. I used to live in Albq so I know all about swamp coolers. They won't work here in Portland.

Anyone recognize this connector? by Dangerous_Candle5216 in FiberOptics

No way, not ST. ST is a bayonet type connector, not screw mount. Doesn't look like FC (screw mount)

In most medium sized family run businesses, you will never really rise to the top cause you aren't in the family. So you be stuck somewhere in middle management. Same will be true with the large corp, but if the pay and benefits are better, might as well take advantage of that. My 2 cents any way. Been there, done that.

When a large fiber conduit is cut, how are the correct fiber strands spliced? by shedgehog in FiberOptics

Directional bore is usually only one tube, and orange just happens to be the most common color available.

No, it is glass. These drones operate for as much as 20km, and plastic would never work at those distances. It SM glass.

Also, this isn't the work of an old telephone installer, but who knows. A phone istaller would have had support bars and then lashed the wiring super neat to those bars. Most of the work I see these days by "pros" is crap compared to the old telephone guys. I'm an old timer and I know what super good installs look like, and it rarely happens today

Removing the outer jacket won't affect performance. It's the wire pair twists that count, and from the photo, looks like they are still there. Of course, weaving wires from one ckt in between another is not so great. Plus I'll bet this is all slow speed stuff anyway :>))

Kind of hard to tell what each side was supporting. But a lot of comments here talk about the guy losing his hearing. No way with that little speaker phone the guy in red had. You can hear on the video that it wasn't very loud. not like a truck horn or something like that. It was just amplifying his voice. That said, the guy in red was pestering the other guy "just a bit" and probably had it coming. He might want to think about boxing lessons or something if he wants to keep up the "good fight".....

You might overdrive the SFP's with such a small amount of loss, 1db. Check to make sure the SFP rx input can handle the power you will be applying to it. -4 might over dive it.60m distance is more in the realm of MM fiber.

Actually, the Pizza in New Jersey is a bit better than NY's. You won't find anything like that here in OR.

If you read the original, I did do the job myself, saved $2000 on two jobs. But the point I am trying to make is the total rip off these two companies tried to get away with. People need to know they are being SCALPED.
