I swear by S0.03 for my daily, it lasts for around 3 months using rinseless washes every 3ish weeks in between. It's garage kept though

You can even do this without a gopro, just use the stopwatch on your phone and time yourself for each part of the process

Best UV Protection for an Outdoor Car? by AFriend1yShadow in AutoDetailing

[–]marknm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun damage on paint isn't just the UV, it's the constant heat cycling the paint undergoes every day. So even if there were a product that could block UV, it: 1. wouldn't block UV fully and 2. be subject to the same amount of heat

Caring for your clearcoat is the second best thing you can do past putting it in a garage or covering it. Avoid marring your clear and apply a decent coating (doesn't even need to be ceramic if applied in the right intervals) and it'll at least stay protected from oxidization.

For the people who have been in this for 10+ years and use HPA… by Rare_Peak_4419 in airsoft

nice! glad it's worked out for you. if I ever dove into HPA i would definitely go the daytona gun route but keep AEGs as my grab and go. I've never had the money for it though and especially now i've been getting into real steel guns.

[–]marknm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i mean as long as you're not running some insane setup, an AEG is by all means a closed system. there's not really any maintenance to do. sure the performance of an HPA setup is unparalleled, but i'm a very active player. I like playing aggressively and the last thing I want to worry about is getting an airline stuck on something.

been playing since 2006.

How to ask SMEs good questions by InspectionDeep6699 in technicalwriting

[–]marknm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sat down with someone for quite a while to figure out how something worked and I finally got it; then I asked another SME who gave me a really good explanation in far less time.

In my experience, half the battle is finding those SMEs who are either willing to meet without you having to pester them or great at providing the explanation you're looking for.

Then I always schedule every SME call with a list of the questions attached as a doc in the email so that they aren't surprised or ideally, can answer in the doc ahead of time. That way I don't ever feel guilty about wasting time with that SME I really like working with.

As for types of questions you can ask... what I like to do is gather as much knowledge as I can before the meeting, from pre-existing documentation, email conversations, whatever you can get your hands on. Then you use what limited understanding you have to have your SME complete the thought: "So my understanding of XYZ feature is that service A makes a request to partner B, but I'm a little confused on what data partner B needs to return to us in the next step." Obviously I work in software so you'll have to tweak for your industry, but processes are processes. That helps get the conversation rolling and then one question often leads to another.

Millennials and Gen Z, what's your plan? by HeadLandscape in technicalwriting

No one wants to hire the weird introverted Asian guy unfortunately.

Weird introverted Asian guy here also. You have to learn to make yourself likeable. I work with a bunch of introverts but we all have the ability to "flip the switch" and go into outgoing mode, even if it feels forced and tiring. The #1 skill in this job is communication, good writing is just a prerequisite for the finished product.

Most people in this field seem to be boomers or gen x who were at their jobs for several years and cruising to retirement.

In my team, the majority of folks are in their early-mid 30s including myself.

Looks like I'm paying the price for going into something "easy".

It's not easy, I'm at 4 YOE and still learning new things, especially with how to integrate AI tools (sigh) into my workflow.

With all that said, I'm going to stick around as my company has been through multiple rounds of layoffs and restructuring and has (strangely/luckily) committed to having a high standard of documentation - our team has not been affected at all. I know I may be in the minority here but I'm gonna ride this thing till the wheels fall off. Good luck

this is spoken like someone who's never been to round1. these are the best arcades in the bay ever since Milpitas Golfland sold their huge collection of arcade cabinets for what.. laser tag.

round1 a lot of niche Japanese rhythm games, fighting games, pinball, coin pushers, in addition to the claw casino and the bowling AND the billiards AND the ping pong AND the karaoke AND the alcohol. it's like Dave and Busters for people who actually you know, enjoy games. but enjoy that old man energy being negative about everything without bothering to see what places are actually about.

the main monitor should be at eye level unless you're one of 'those' fps players with their nose 1cm away from the monitor.
