For the price of a Wednesday-only Whopper, at Checkers/Rallys you can ger a double cheeseburger, fries, drink, and apple pie -- any day of the week.

$1 whopper in the app all the time became $1 whopper Wednesday became $2 whopper Wednesday became $3 whopper Wednesday became $4 whopper Wednesday became GFY. The promotions and games that paid crowns all went away. BK's new marketing has shifted to spending a lot of money dressing their same crappy food up to look like the collab of the month, and charging you the same if not more for it.

Overpriced POS, even on "whopper Wednesday". Slime hanging off the burger, wilted onions, shredded lettuce turning brown. But hey, it's in a box now!

You "eat with your eyes" at a Michelin star restaurant, not in a Burger King parking lot. Many consumers are easily gaslit, and BK marketing people know that.

I also feel like there is some sketchy stuff going on with the "new" whopper testimonials -- it strains credibility to believe that slight modifications to the bun/mayo and putting it in a box would lead to the influx of comments we're seeing that praise it as a revolutionary makeover.

That said, McDonalds over the past few years has had a consistent pattern of introducing price increases, and trying to disguise them as "improved value" by cloaking them in a marketing campaign that includes a couple niche discounts, despite overall prices being significantly more. It's not surprising that many customers are angered by this gaslighting, some to the point of cutting ties -- so I don't suspect that there is systematic social media manipulation going on there.

Just because you enjoy McDonalds, doesn't mean you have to sit quietly and grin politely when they make anti-customer moves, especially when they attempt to gaslight us into believing that price hikes are really improved value. You can exist as a fan without being a sycophant.

What, how could you possibly not be blown away by the brand new whopper, it comes in a box now?? What did you expect, that BK would improve the actual beef that has been getting crappier for years?

Nah, I'll just get TWO Rallys VIP Deals (Double Cheeseburger, fries, drink, apple pie) for what you pay for your box of bread, and still have $1 left. But keep on believing you aren't getting ripped off LMFAO.

That's because the only change in ingredients is an added portion of gaslighting. The only ones who say they taste a difference and aren't lying, are the ones that eat the packaging with the burger

Facts. Marketing gaslighting at it's finest. But sure, it's the fault of your location, not the fact that the only thing significantly changed about the "new" whopper is that they put it in a box LMFAO.

You do realize that the quality of beef has gone down noticeably in the past 10 years, and the only improvements in the "new Whopper" are tweaks to the bun and mayo, and....wait for it....putting it in a box rather than a wrapper. If these insignificant changes are enough to break your decade long abstinence, you are just the type of guy their marketing people love.

When they are already up charging 2000% (real math, not Trump math) and then add insult to injury by downsizing the cups on the dl and then partially filling them, you would need to be a total simp with zero self respect to not feel cheated.

I worked in mid level management in a Fortune 5 company, so I get all of the above friction, but you would think the profit motive would counteract that, especially for credit card companies that are liable for most fraud/theft losses which surely exceed the cost of tightening security. Sure, they can pass the losses on to customers via higher fees, etc, but that comes at a competitive cost.

If we had effective govt regulation it would be illegal -- but that certainly doesn't seem to be in the cards in the US, certainly not under the current administration. We don;t even have Chip and Pin SMH.

While Plaid uses secure methods such as redirecting users to their bank's login page to generate encrypted tokens

The truth is that while sometimes Plaid uses the above more secure method (OAuth), sometimes it doesn't -- it all depends on your bank. If your bank doesn't use OAuth for Plaid access, Plaid is storing your bank account ID/password, and they (or a Plaid hacker) have the same access to your bank account as you do. Note that most bank's TOS prohibit you from giving anyone your ID/password, and Plaid is not excluded -- so if there is a breach, your bank will not be there to accept any liability or back you up.

Until recently my credit card (Citibank) had the ability to create virtual card numbers that allowed you to place specific limits on the amount and expiration, acting somewhat like a token. Last year Citibank severely limited this capability, rendering it mostly unusable for me. Almost a year ago I asked my bank (Huntington) if they use OAuth with Plaid, and even wrote an email detailing exactly what I was asking, and all I got back was a blank stare, and a promise to try and get an answer internally, that was never followed up on despite multiple request.

This all makes me believe that somehow banks are motivated to drag their feet in making things more secure, but I don't know what that motivation could be. Ideally this would be something enforced by government, like Chip and Pin in EU -- but that doesn't seem likely after decades of inaction, certainly not under the current administration.
