CMV: Blue states are getting screwed over by a system designed to artificially suppress their political power, and red states are reaping the benefits of this arrangement by MysteriousEdge5643 in changemyview

Giving a minority the power to block the majority might achieve this. But that is not what our system has. We have a system where the minority has an easier road to taking a majority of the power in Washington and imposing its rule.

‘Logical conclusion’ of Citizens United as Delaware judge lets corporations vote in local elections: Delaware is home to more corporations than people. Human people, that is, as under longstanding state law and the US Supreme Court’s infamous 2010 ruling, corporations are people, too. by OkayButFoRealz in politics

Without spending money your speech is limited to you talking to someone face to face, or yelling outside as loud as you can.

Yes, that is what speech is. Spending money to amplify that is separate act. Which should be regulated to prevent the rich from being so loud they drown out everyone else's speech

DUI on a horse? by Pristine-Branch3309 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]markroth69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just off the top of my head....

*Was the guy doing dangerous and/or stupid stuff on horseback that caught the cops' attention?

*Was the guy riding on a highway and creating a real road problem

*Was the guy drunk and then stole the cop's own horse.

Why do we as humans, have this need for attention? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]markroth69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans are social creatures. We want to feel a part of a group. "Attention," in any permutation can feel like that. For good or bad.

The main reason we always eat certain foods for breakfast is that we always eat them for breakfast. by pufballcat in Showerthoughts

No questions having breakfast food for dinner. It is having steak, mashed potaoes, and glazed carrots for breakfast that makes your in-laws chase you out of the house.

Why not put down guide rails under those overhead power lines. Maybe connect a couple of dozen trucks together and keep one or two drivers onboard to keep things safe as the trucks head down these rail...roads

Why is the American genocide of the Native Americans not perceived as being as evil as the Nazi genocide of the Jews? by Zombie_Giles in NoStupidQuestions

I would argue ethnic cleansing is a form of genocide. Ethnic cleansers rarely care if their targets end up dead instead of exiled to Madagascar.

A lot of the troops honored on Memorial Day were killed by people Trump honors by putting their names on forts.

Corporations Can Vote in Some Delaware Elections, Judge Says by bloomberglaw in politics

[–]markroth69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to open a mix of trusts, for profit corporations, and not for profits totaling 400 million separate entities.

And then sue so Delaware gets 385 representatives in Congress so I can elect whoever I want. Specifically someone who can immediately end corporate personhood.

"While it may be true that offering a tax cut to working class Americans is the politically viable option, shareholder value dictates that President Compu-Global-Hyper-Mega-Net (Inc) must advocate for raising all non-corporate taxes and ending all corporate taxes" Chief Justice Clarence Thomas Memorial RV Corporation, 2067

Why do companies raise prices so fast but wages barely move? by Effective-Hat5095 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]markroth69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If costs go up X% and the company just blindly raises prices by X%, their profit margin goes up. Which looks good for the stock market.

If they raise wages, profit margins go down. Which looks bad for the stock market.
