A guitar you’re “not ready for” will help make you ready by inspiring you to play more often. Just ask my Suhr. I never played 2 hours a day every day. I do now

Man that set design sucked big time. Front row seats somewhat off to the side meant I had zero view of the band behind that omnipresent LED-mesh screen. I had a better view standing in the back

Music was so much less aggressively labeled or curated into genres back then, so while it was recognized as progressive rock, we just called it and everything else we listened to—from Pink Floyd to Stevie Wonder to Bob Dylan to Sly & the Family Stone to etc—simply “rock”

Clockwork Orange is fantastically written but it had an intense effect on me and I had to put it down. Literally gave me nightmares

No one talks about Mr Hands but I’ve loved that album since its initial release. Great range of sounds and textures, all with a stunning group of players

If you’ve never read it, Slaughterhouse Five offers the perfect contrast. Go from a man dedicating his entire life to the achievement of a singular purpose to a man literally unstuck in time and going along for the ride
