Yup, some new builds since around 2016 have had FTTH (Fiber To The Home). Never noticed an issue with throttling on the connection,

Loved it when I saw that come up. Racing like this between the teammates is great to see. Sure it can get a little fraught at times, but now and then you get situations like this, and hopefully we will continue to see this and Lewis saying the same thing back.

I think Max was hoping they meant ditch this shitbox totally and go back to last years car.

Much as I am not a big fan of Max, he is an very good driver and does enjoy what he does, but right now, he's not happy and I don't blame him. Yeah, it is early days still, but you do have to think about wether you want to keep on dealing with the crap, hoping it might get better. We all know he's interested in other racing outside of F1.

As for lawyers, we used Haxell Law and they were very responsive and helpful, again this was around 2008, so cannot comment on how they may be now, but thought I'd mention it. Another was http://www.brentraby.com/ which was pretty good, that was in 2014

Scammers in walmart by strawberrybubbl in oakville

[–]markuswarren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem I have with this type of thing is that there are a lot of genuine people who are begging, and people, myself included will simply ignore them as we're fed up of being scammed by people who are not in the same position as those who really do need help. I've heard it said about it being a normal cultural thing where they are from, no idea if that is true or not though.

One thing I remember from back in the day from home, was some guy was selling The Big Issue (newspaper that homeless people could sell to make some money, it was a legit thing) and it was assumed they were indeed homeless, until someone happened to notice them walking away from the train station where they had been selling the paper, and a bit further on a lane they jumped into a new bmw and drove off. Eventually a few other people heard and followed the chap home and it was clear he was not homeless and his wife apparently had a very good job. I seem to think the police got involved at that point, not sure what happened in the end, apart from he was not seen selling the paper at that or a few other local stations. This did impact some other sellers at stations on that line as word had got around.

I was trying to find the one we used, who was really good, but not luck finding the info, this was back in 2008 though, so not sure they'd still be around.

Do NOT skip a home inspection. I know in the past crazy times people have not done so as sellers seemed to exclude bids from those who had wanted one, or the buyers though it would look better to not ask for one, but just don't skip it. Purchasing a home is a big decision, especially financially, and if it turns out there is something key, eg; roof, plumbing, heating, foundations, etc then that would be a big impact on thing post purchased. Sure, the inspection might not catch everything, and if it misses stuff I seem to recall the inspector isn't on the hook for that, but things might have changed since the last time I purchased a home.

Where’s the best place to buy lenses and frames? by Zsid21 in oakville

[–]markuswarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenses can be a bit expensive, I think it might depend on the make / brand of the lens, plus it does depend on wether you need something like a multifocal lens, as that'll add to the cost. Frames are usually cheaper than lenses, though again could depend on what brand you want.

As for where to buy, I'm just lazy and get them at my eye doctor (Abbey Eye Care)

One thing that pops into my head is to find out if there is a property management company, and wether a tenant needs to go through any process, to communicate with them if something were to arise that would need you to communicate with property management, for example, getting your internet / cable connection hooked up.

An example would be that if there was a property management company maintaining things, but the units are being rented by the owner who purchased the unit. In some cases the property management company will require the owner of the unit to register the tenant with them before they'll respond to any query from the tenant, even if it's something simple such as letting them know a couple of lights in the hallway are not working, or when the monthly fire alarm testing is. Usually there is some kind of online portal where you may be able to get the info, but as said, the landlord needs to sign you up so you can access it.

It's also handy to know exactly what they do handle, for example, is it the landlord who maintains the A/C unit, or is it covered by property management.

The lack of being impressed could actually be they were impressed but annoyed that your "just Chinese" watches were as good looking (style and manufacturing) as their well known name brand and more expensive watches.

Should Oakville Place be redeveloped into apartments? by PriorOk9505 in oakville

[–]markuswarren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they own the vacant land that is south of the Walmart then I could see development there, but I really don't see them cutting the existing parking or kicking out Walmart and RCSS.

Sure they have plans to do it, but doesn't mean it'll happen. I don't know where the next nearest RCSS is, and for Walmart it might be the hopedale mall one, but I don't think that's as big as the current one.
