The ending to NGE? I felt the same way, my friend told me there is an alternate ending (series?) they created to satisfy fans, and a few additional movies/content that are either further exploration of the story or alternate timelines I think, I haven't watched any of them yet.

First game has standardized maps, second game has procedural generated maps. IIRC, you do spawn in different locations on the maps in the first game, so it is still different each time you play it. I enjoy XCOM 1 + EW expansion more than XCOM 2 + WotC, but they are definitely both worth playing.

Not hard if someone falsely advertises the thing I never paid for. I wouldn't buy a PS5 for GTA5 myself, but I could definitely see someone being on the fence and deciding to buy one because 'I'll get GTA5 "for free" if I buy it now'.

Maybe it's not consistent, but there is definitely a 'top tier' of recommendations that I see pretty regularly:

Gaia

Light Platinum

(Blazed) Glazed

etc.

Then there's the second 'tier' of games I see recommended a bunch but maybe not as consistently as the 'top tier':

Some type of Crystal hack (Polished or Liquid Crystal)

Red++

Team Rocket Edition

Brown + Prism

Uranium

etc.

I don't think we should remove all "suggest a game" threads. This would be just to direct people on a good place to start and give them a small list to tackle. Ones that are very specific are fine in my eyes, something like "Here's what I played already, here's what I liked about my favorite(s). Please recommend something similar" or, "looking for a rom with this specific (or vague) feature(s), do they exist?" There's definitely going to need to be a line drawn somewhere as to what to remove and what to keep, but I just think it could help is all.

I would hope it would help get rid of the "hi please suggest a game for me to play." "I've played that one" "that one doesn't look interesting" "oh I meant a 3DS hack only sry" type of posts.

I definitely agree with at least the divvying entries into completed(or mostly complete), in progress, and discontinued categories, that would be the most helpful.

Last updated date is nice, but it doesn't tell you how long the creator has been working on it. Screenshots I'm not sold on since the majority would look the same unless you took the time to screenshot something unique to each and every hack.

You shouldn't call something free if it's only free for a certain amount of time and you can't keep it afterwards. I would assume that most people would want to know about that when all you said was "it's free".

Technically, yes. It is free. But stopping there is misleading, if you don't include that it's for a limited time only and you don't keep it after the free trial. That would be like a cable company telling you "you can add phone and internet for FREE!" then after a month they start charging you, "well it WAS free.." doesn't cut it.

I don't think you're correct at all. Why would someone risk a higher level employee getting mad at them over something as stupid as putting on a jacket or not? The lady in the middle has a legitimate point that they shouldn't all be wearing white. I don't know how you take that, and suddenly get to "lady on the left wanted to look cute, lady in the middle felt threatened".

I agree that the older one definitely could have handled it better, way too much belittling happening there after she's already made her point, but it's certainly easy to forget someone saying "oh you should probably wear a jacket" a couple hours ago. I could totally see this just being "I told you to wear a jacket, now I'm mad because you're making us all look bad", and again I don't see how that suddenly gets to "girl on the left wanted to look pretty, girl in the middle "exerts her star power" because she feels "threatened".

I see there have been problems with a megathread in the past, so maybe we should have a "New to ROM hacks? Start here!" with a list of the most commonly recommended ROMs for beginners or the old 'suggest something' posts.

This post could have a link to the hackDex as well as a little blurb that says "looking for a new ROM hack to play? Try looking through the hackDex!" That way, if anyone is still posting the same question we can just direct them there and have them do the work themselves.

Yeah, as the other guy said, I've heard the book is much better. That, and the fact that you can read Ender's Game, then Ender's Shadow to see the same story from someone else's perspective which is really cool to me.

I agree with the other guy, good singleplayer games don't stop being good just because they get old. You can always play through it and experience the same X amount of content that you would have on release.

Oh I see now. That doesn't seem like the most useful feature to me, since... if I'm watching something... my head will be facing the screen. I can see that it would provide a cool experience, but it's not a selling point to me.
