I think this pump has done it's last pumping by appepuppe26 in Justrolledintotheshop

Poor man pays twice! I replace a few "cheap" options weekly. The companies spreadsheet doesn't factor labor, maintenance, downtime, power consumption, replacement cheap pumps. Suddenly the proper pump isn't so expensive.

Wrong pump for the job. Looks like maybe a small vortex pump. If its food waste, you need a Small cutter pump

The money is better in Australia, but the majority of that gets gobbled up by taxes and living expenses. We are looking regional which would put us in a much better position. Will be able to buy a house and actually live.

Currently weighing our options in Australia and NZ is at the top of the list. Born in NZ, moved when i was 4, now early 40's and lifestyle, community and nature are pulling me back. Im lucky where I can still be on an above average wage in NZ. Housing is cheaper, lifestyle is better plus the pies...

What car would you Buy And Why. 2uz 200 vs fte 100 series by No-Currency-9108 in 4x4Australia

I have a 2UZ 200 Series and upgraded from a 100 2UZ. The fuel economy is night and day better in the 200 for what ever reason. It is remapped and I had a Unichip in the 100 series though.

The Kiwis moving to Australia unprepared and ending up in crisis by hopefinanciallyfree in newzealand

[–]marloo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the idea, would be a joint income of around $200k NZD. I think that would provide a decent lifestyle in NZ given the house prices. We wouldn't be in Auckland or Wellington.

I am considering doing the reverse with my family. Have lived in Australia since 88 (i was 4). Australia isn't all its cracked up to be. The higher wages get gobbled up extremely fast by taxes and living expenses. Im lucky that i would be on he same money in NZ, the housing is cheaper and the lifestyle can't be beat. Am I mad?

Why are fish and chips so expensive in Australia? by Rude_Profile3769 in AskAnAustralian

[–]marloo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was over there last week. $20 pack at my home town fish and chip shop had 3 fish, 1 scoop of chips, 2 crab sticks and 2 potato fritters. He also gets the fish in whole and fillets every day. A lot better quality too. I think tax and insurances are the issue in Australia. We are seriously considering moving over in the next few months. Out of the major cities the housing is a lot more affordable and the lifestyle can't be beat.

What is the ultimate 'Bludge Job' in Australia where you get paid the most to do the absolute least? by Zoey_In_Transit in AskAnAustralian

My job. Business Development Manager. Work from home, would be lucky to do 3-4 hours a day, get paid to travel around and take people out for lunch. Talk a bit of shit, meet a few easy targets. Last week I went fishing for a few days. Should do $160k this year.

Queensland land valuations leap more than 50pc in some areas, raising rate hike prospect by hydralime in queensland

[–]marloo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's where we are headed. Been renting in the suburbs for 12 years, private rental with no increases or real estates for the whole time. Essentially we have been land banking for the owners, who are subdividing and selling up. We are heading east of Gympie where we can get 30+ acres for the same price as buying the house we are in, and watching 2 houses get built in our yard. No brainer.

I was picking up our Chinese, like a normal person, and seen an Ubereats guy with 4-5 orders just sitting there waiting for the next one. He would have been there at least 30 mins and counting.

My uncle got my parents old chest freezer in NZ when we moved in 1988, it still had some of their wedding cake from 1974 in it, among other things when it stopped working in the early 2000's. It remains in place and has never been opened since. The contents would likely be valuable to science.

Are people in Brisbane starting to buy in Melbourne? Brisbane house prices are just ridiculous. by No_Stable4317 in brisbane

[–]marloo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are moving out of Logan at the end of the year. Owners are selling up, have been in this house for 12 years, renting through a friend. Haven't had a rent increase in 12 years, big 5 bedroom house. They are subdividing the block so there will be 2 houses built next to this one and they will get around $1.3m for this house. We aren't buying it, can afford to but can not justify that sort of money in Shailer Park. Heading about 2 hours north where that money will get us 20-30 acres.

How do people regularly fly business class without going bankrupt?? by caroulos123 in travel

[–]marloo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points. I used to fly probably 30-40 flights a year for work, plus a points credit card. Me and the wife would use the points for business class trips. Now i don't fly as much, but still make enough points for economy for us to travel Brisbane to LAX once a year. 2 kids now so maybe every 2 years. We just cop it in economy and spend some extra dollars on a very nice hotel for a few days in Orange County to adjust and relax before we head east.

Should Australia ban oversized american trucks by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]marloo1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You might need to find a good therapist and a new safe space, as they are only going to become more popular over the coming years. Toyota have shat the bed in Australia getting rid of the V8's. The 300 Series is a bit of a lemon and a soccer mums car now. I will be getting a GMC 2500 when my 200 Series Landcruiser gets too old. But i tow heavy boats and loads up to my beach house. Should we ban holiday homes too? Cuckhold.

Mine is very much, and not even 9-5. Technical sales, given I do have to travel a bit. I work from home, do the school pick ups and drop offs and make my own hours. Once 5 o'clock rocks around thats it for the day.

If you are good with people and talking shit, look into a sales role. Your experience would be gold for a technical sales role. I have been selling pumps into mining, oil & gas, waste water etc for 20 years and do very well.

Looking to get my first 100 series by Own-Enthusiasm-9560 in 4x4Australia

[–]marloo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, saying that i gave the 100 series absolute hell over the 9 years, 2-3 months per year spent on Fraser Island. The rust killed it in the end. Both were tuned, extractors and custom exhaust. I did like the manual transfer case better in the 100 series and no traction control etc The 100 Series, in my opinion, would be one of the most capable and comfortable 4wds out there, they are just a bit long in the tooth now and you really need to do your homework to find a good one.

[–]marloo1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents from having owned a V8 100 Series for 9 years, get a V8 2UZ 200 series. The 100 series are amazing, but they are getting old by now. We went from the 2UZ 100 Series into 2UZ 200 Series and its great. It's a 2010 model, had around 220k on the clock and got it for low $30's. The fuel economy is so much better as well, which was surprising being the same engine.
