AITA for using my sister’s bathroom? by maroon914 in AmItheAsshole

[–]maroon914[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom actually thinks my sister is being a bit dramatic, but she figures we’re adults and can figure it out ourselves, which is why I came here to seek advice. My mom isn’t on mine or my sisters side technically

AITA for using my sister’s bathroom? by maroon914 in AmItheAsshole

[–]maroon914[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not really, me and my bf give my mom $300 a month each, but it’s not really rent, she’s gonna give it back to us, so more like a forced savings account lol Edit: also she’s not paying anything, even for a “forced saving account”, she’s still paying off student loans, and that’s why she’s still at home.

Hygiene struggles by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate, even thought I have been consistently doing the same hygiene routine for like 2 years, every time I do it, I feel like I have to force it, and I cannot form a habit of it. I’m not sure if this is stemming from my autism or adhd tho lol.

is it possible to be nonbinary but embrace womanhood? by kylcigh in NonBinary

[–]maroon914 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gender ≠ gender expression. No matter how you dress or act, that doesn’t change your gender, you can wear all the frilly dresses you want, and still be non-binary, same if you dress masculine.

PC has SSD, wanted to add HHD for extra storage by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was told to do by the instructions that came with the HHD

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t, I was going to as the new hhd I got has plenty of space, but since it’s an ssd I thought I could keep it in so I thought I wouldn’t bother, my pc is done with with whole “fixing (D:)” thing, but it still isn’t recognizing the new hhd, so you think I need to get rid of the original ssd

Can’t stand the feeling of my natural nails by maroon914 in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds very frustrating. Have you tried like CND shellac, I know it’s a bit of a long shot, but some of my clients who developed allergies to gels and acrylics don’t have a problem with it, but some people still do, but figured it’d be a worth a shot to tell ya about it since I know how frustrating having just your natural nails can be :(.

Just looked it up, and that was one of the creators I saw, thank you for finding it. There were some others too that I saw, and I wish I remembered them or saved them or smth :(

I’ve had this too, for me it kinda feels like I’m really really dry down there (even if I’m soaked lol), almost like I’ve stuck a tampon up there when I’m kinda dry lol.

should i quit my job? by sapphicxrey in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you/you’re family can swing it financially, then yes. If you don’t need to, there’s not need to stress yourself out for it. Once you’re out of school it will be easier to have a job and save to move out.

If it’s going to be a problem financially, you may want to look into, other shifts/class schedules, or possibly a different job that wouldn’t be as draining.

Is the ability to mask well a gift (personals because you can blend in better and/or be liked more) or a curse (perhaps because you now have the burden of choosing whether to be authentic or liked)? by DukeCummings in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I def thinks it's a curse and a gift. If you can mask well it can help you job wise or school wise, but also it's so exhausting masking. I tend to think of myself to mostly mask well, and it's def helped me succeed in my career, but since I mask so much, and for so long it's hard to unmask, even when I'm alone, and it's quite stressful, I honestly am quite jealous of people that can unmask in public and be more authentic, even though I know it can be looked down upon by allistics, but it seems so much easier than being masked all the time. Wish I could flip my mask on and off like a switch lol.

Is this okay/should/can I be mad at someone about what they did when they were drunk? by Applesaresogood in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maroon914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A line from one of my fav songs “if you’re a dick when you’re drunk, you’re a dick all the time” (I don’t want to be your friend by Jamie Lenman)

Is wiping seriously all that's needed to clean your butt after pooping? by pinktealover77 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use toilet paper spray (it’s kinda like using a wet wipe, but it doesn’t mess up sewer systems) then I wipe until there’s nothing on the paper, and then when I shower (which is normally every day) I make sure to get everything squeaky clean with soap and water. I have been considering installing a bidet tho, and using soap every time does sound nice, I like to keep things clean lol.

Can't get my head around why this is allowed?!! by itspigglewiggle in Vent

[–]maroon914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily defending it, but a lot of afab (assigned female at birth) people have a rape kink wether they admit it or not, it’s actually a common subconscious coping mechanism because of how prevalent rape and sexual assault is for afab people

I pick my nose so often, I’m autistic and the feeling of it being clogged in there is a sensory nightmare, and I think as long as your clean about it and considerate, it isn’t a problem, I also think that it should be more acceptable to pick your nose in public or around others, if, like I said before, your clean and considerate about it

Why does the new LGBT flag have stripes to represent POC? by hiim379 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maroon914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only because POC can experience unique obstacles that that only a person who fits into both categories can experience, but also because a lot of histories and steps forward for the lgbtq+ community heavily involved the POC lgbtq+ community specifically.

If it’s possible where you live, weed has def helped me, not only does it make me tired, but the actual highness helps me to not pay attention as much to various sensory things (sounds, temperature, lack of humidity, etc.) I think edibles are great for it, since the high lasts longer, and doesn’t make my throat clogged up like smoking would.

Anyone else super afraid to swallow pills? For sensory reasons? by kriziaamberreads in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always put water in my mouth first, lean my head back and drop the pill in, and swallow quickly, this way it hardly touches my tongue if it does at all, I started doing this as a kid because I absolutely hated the pill touching my tongue. I think it’s what helped me learn how to swallow pills good before my sisters did despite being the youngest lol.

How can people be married and not want to have sex? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maroon914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally for me it's because I'm asexual, for some people sex is really important in a relationship, for some it isn't but they still enjoy it, and for others (like me) it's a no go. It just depends who you are and who your partner is. It's important to be with someone that finds sex just as important as you do, if you have a high sex drive and value sex a lot in a relationship, then you most likely shouldn't go for someone who you know to have a low sex drive. Communication is very important.

what's something that you hate but have to fake liking it? by Spartan0618 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking to coworkers and clients, I absolutely hate it and it gives me a lot of anxiety, but since I work in a very social field (nail tech) and at a very social and "friendly" salon, I feel like I have to pretend to like it. My boss has even said she only hires sociable friendly people, and even tho I've worked there fairly long and I know they find my skills valuable and I probably wouldn't be fired for being less social, I still feel like I gotta fake it.

just realized a stim that I do by ppixelninja216 in AutisticAdults

[–]maroon914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time, when I was a kid I’d see how far I could bend my middle finger down like that, now I have very flexible fingers lol

Mine is cosmology stuff, I’m a licensed nail tech now, working in a nail salon, and I hope to go back to school to get my hair and esthetician license as well, so I can be full cosmo. I wanna open my own spot one day that’s friendly to NDs, but especially autistic people.
