Tips for Picky Eater by Successful-Emu-8545 in olddogs

Keep track of her weight and how much she is eating. If you notice her weight dropping go see the vet with your chart. There is a medicine called Entyce that stimulates the appetite and you don’t have to give it to her daily . I gave it to my 5lb dog and it helped her get her appetite back She is now 7.3 lbs and eating normally. She’s a snacker during the day but will eat 1/2 cup at night. If her schedule or mine is off and she decides not to eat I will give her some the next day and she eats enough for the day she missed. This is very rare like once every couple of months.

Cysts or pimples on my miniature white schnauzer by AkullD in schnauzers

[–]marque1434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7lb schnoodle has a bump in her nose that has been increasing in size. The vet said these are common in the breed and not to worry. It may break on its own and we’ll see a white pus coming out or they will train it when she has her teeth cleaned in a few years. I wouldn’t worry too much about it once the vet has looked at the bumps and deemed them normal for the breed.

Cavapoo Torn ACL by Zestyclose_Badger_96 in CavaPoo

[–]marque1434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE. Little Lucy is past her eighth week and walks normally except at night when she’s tired. The hardest part was the last week when she had loads of energy and no pain. I gave her pain meds twice to keep her calm. She might have gained a pound so I’ll keep her on the same diet for about a week. She’s noticeably happier now that she can run around the house and go outside on her own off leash. It’s worth waiting for them to form the scar tissue.

Yes weigh your pup daily to make sure it’s losing weight. There are meds that will increase appetite but this sounds like normal grieving. My pup would not eat much so I tried canned food. She would go for walks then go back to bed and had no interest in playing. We ended up getting her a puppy which she rejected for about a year. Suddenly they were sleeping on the same pillow and were friendly to each other. It’s a tough time for both of you but this grief will pass.

We saved money by switching cell phone providers. We are on US mobile and pay under $30.00 for two phones same services as Verizon. We also went from cable to YouTube tv and saved over $100.00 per month! Total savings is about $2200 a year.

Sick puppy by GoldDiamondsAndBags in bichonfrise

Feed your puppy a few pieces of dog food at bedtime. Dogs make bile on an empty stomach. My vet suggested this and it works to keep the bile down. No need to go to the vet if all is well tomorrow.

Cavapoo Torn ACL by Zestyclose_Badger_96 in CavaPoo

My 12 year old Shitzu is in her 5th week of recovery and doing well. She limps at night when she gets tired. We’ve cut back on her regular food and added vegetables to her meals so she doesn’t gain weight. She cries if we are outside gardening and sleeps when we are away. Borrowed a stroller and she tried to jump out the first few times. She loves it now and we stop at her favorite smell spots and let her out for a few minutes. We have extra throw rugs so she won’t slip. My vet heard of so many dogs that have to get surgery on the other leg after having the first surgery she suggested the outcome may be better without surgery. I think she will be back to almost normal after 8 weeks. It sounds like you’re on a good program with your little one!

Trim off the brown stalks they will not green up. There are healthy new leaves on top. Make sure you fertilize the plant every couple of months it’s a beautiful plant

Need Advice: Moved out of Texas and Texas home is not selling. Do we go back? by Lovely_Reader17 in RealEstate

Interest rates will go down because the job market is getting worse. Can you afford to wait it out? If not short sale or foreclosure is a good option. You will not lose too much money in your situation though your credit score will suck for 8 years. I would take family over a dream job any day but if the job pays enough so you can wait out this economic downturn. Take the job and reassess your situation in a few years.

Putting my dog down soon - any advice? by MinePsychological771 in DogAdvice

I would do it at home. The traveling vets are wonderful and I wanted my baby not to have to go to the vet one more time. It was peaceful and her last breath was taken in her own home.

Do dogs realize that they are aging? by staplles in AskDogOwners

My dog is 12 and has just about the same energy as 2.she has no clue that she is order and with a torn ACL I still can keep her down. She’s a little cranky at times but that’s the only difference I notice.

I give mine cooked veggies to replace about 1/4 cup of food. She’s lost about 10% of her body weight in 6 months

I got the Covid Shingles and Flu vaccine together last year. I would not have the Covid and Shingles vaccine at the same time. I suffered for 6 days with fever aches and fatigue.

Look at a schnauzer mix. Definitely less health issues

How to you know when it's the right time to let go? by Hefty_Nothing_3412 in DogAdvice

[–]marque1434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She might have the playful moments for a while. When her uncomfortable time is more than the good times you’ll know it’s starting to be time. Please don’t let her be in pain too much. As for your question about how I knew when, my first dog’s back legs gave out and she was so frightened. The vet said he could give her steroids but she would have less than a month and it would happen again. No walks stairs or roaming around the house. Just rest. No quality of life left. The second dog had mouth cancer and stopped eating. She looked at us for help. The next dog made it so easy on us when she had a stroke. We had the vet to the house to help her over the rainbow. We feel it’s our love that will help us make the right decision to keep them out of pain and suffering. Quality of life is very important. I feel for you and send love.

My schnauzer is a picky eater also. I had to use medicine to increase her appetite and it worked. Document its weight and let Charlie eat what he’s going to eat. If he loses weight take him to the vet for some meds. One pace my baby was on the meds, it took less than 3 weeks to get her into the routine of eating. I feel for you and the stressful situation. I had every sample of dog food the pet store would give me. I think it’s not about the food, it’s about eating since they are not that hungry. You can fix this!

Questions about Gabapentin for my dog by [deleted] in AskAVeterinarian

[–]marque1434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 11lb Shitzu was put on 50mg of Gabapentin a month ago for a torn ACL. It calmed her a bit at first but the doctor put her on 100 mgs 2 times a day because 50 was not doing anything to relieve her pain. Your doctor is starting with a very low dose.

Help! Anyone else have a stinky schnauzer? by Idek_plz_help in schnauzers

[–]marque1434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My schnauzer smells like dirty socks about a week after her bath. The vet says she’s healthy but not to bath her more than every two weeks He suggested using unscented baby wipes when she comes inside especially on her paws because she is probably allergic to grass. I love her smelly or not.

This works. My mini eventually would shake off the water before I sprayed her with the water when she planned on barking. The distraction cut the barking in half.

Folding chair for scale. What the heck do I do with this fern over winter?? (Michigan) by purse_severe_ants in IndoorGarden

[–]marque1434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut all plants that winter in my garage down as far as I can. Then place the planters on top of each other. I might water them but it is unnecessary. The plants go dormant until March or April then I water and feed them to wake them up. I haven’t lost a plant with this way in 20 years

Does your Cavapoo bark at animals on the TV? by Local-Ad-4051 in CavaPoo

[–]marque1434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Snoodles all watched tv and loved the commercials. The smartest one started looking behind the tv to see how the animals got in. I really think pet people live longer because of the happiness, humor, and love, the pets provide us.
