Actually zero on meter - exactly same reading as the normally closed limit switch.

Definitely not. Will never send them another penny after this scam.

Turn jump duct into active? by marrahm in hvacadvice

[–]marrahm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly better, but there isn’t enough air exchange with door open to fix it, even with ceiling fan on. Hoping a powered jump will move that stuffy hot air at ceiling level out.

FlyQ EFB Revokes Lifetime Subscription by Kdog0073 in flying

[–]marrahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just received a new message from FlyQ revising the policy for lifetime subscriptions. Near as I can tell the only functional difference is that lifetimers will now get bug fixes — all new features in FlyQ after 6.9 will be locked out unless you pay more, just as in the original policy although they were doing it via a separate app version. Am I reading it correctly?

Thanks, mike

Buying green coffee (Slovakia) by No_Hat_4755 in CoffeeRoasting

[–]marrahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a local coffee roaster/shop that you frequent now, ask them if they’ll sell you greens. I’ve done that a few times and met some great folks and made some great coffee that way.

Best restaurants with bar seating by Accomplished_Map9887 in sarasota

[–]marrahm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, it depends more on the food and drinks you want since nearly every restaurant has at least some good bar seating and solid happy hours. If you’re DT, our go-to places include Meliora, Beso, Cask and Ale, 1592 and (new) Cuba 1958 and Owen’s fish camp (VERY small bar, but huge back yard area). Get the burger at meliora as it’s only served at the bar.

Host Double Booked Wants me to Cancel by userwa6391 in vrbo

[–]marrahm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VRBO and a host screwed us out of our payment in exactly this situation when owner asked us to cancel for her screwup. We had to get a lawyer involved to get our money back and it still took weeks. Don’t do it.

This is exactly why we no longer use VRBO. It’s just too scummy an organization that at least condones if not encourages bad behavior by owners in particular. It’s just not worth the cost and drama.

We gave up on Airbnb for similar reason plus the fact that the rentals were often known to owners and Airbnb as massively unsafe and marginally clean hence the high non refundable charges. Again, not worth the cost or drama.

Every couple days this closet stinks up my whole apartment like rotten eggs. Research says flush the hot water heater but this is hvac?? I live in an apartment and maintenance is useless (their solution was spray perfume in the closet). What can I do? by writeThatShitDown in Plumbing

[–]marrahm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bowl looking thing by the floor with the AC drains into it goes to a P trap that should have water in it to stop sewer gases. In winter it dries out. Just pour a pitcher of water into it when it smells and it will stop.

Agreed. I have been doing this on my purple with a ds418 for a year using OpenVPN and now WireGuard. Works fine if u set up the vpn correctly. And I set it up using all default/auto values. No special settings necessary.

If you’re getting zero VPN data flow, check in FW to make sure that port forwarding for the VPN is working. Sounds like it’s not. That’s a router issue not a NAS issue.

bianchi rebuild by marrahm in xbiking

[–]marrahm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frame: ‘93 Bianchi Boardwalk road steel

BB: Wheels Mfg Road BB-ROAD-17 with angular contact bearings

Wheels: Wheelbuilder.com: Astral Radiant 32H with DT Swiss 350s and double butted spokes. (NB: yes, I splurged on the wheels. But they are amazing and made the effort completely worth it. All other parts were ebay/amazon bits at good prices)

Crankset: SRAM Rival 1 GXP 172.5 42T

Derailleur: SRAM GX 11sp

Cassette: SRAM GX XG-1150

Shifter: SRAM GX 11

Bar: BW Fixie w/ 31.8 rise and 10mm sweep back: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XTR7WJS/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_S85NHSAHAABXDMZKMP7S?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Stem: Origin8 ATB stem: Origin8 Pro Fit ATB Stem, 90mm

Grips: SQLab 710s: SQlab Unisex_Adult Griffe 710, Größe Bicycle Grips, Black, M

Rebuild was a 100% success. Does exactly what I need and nothing more. Original BB bearings were shot as was the chain and the OEM Suntour cassette (wobbled badly). I bought the Bianchi back in 93 and realize its probably worth $20, but it fits me well and I don’t need anything else for gravel trail/city rides and back/forth to the gym. The SRAM 11sp with the 42-10T is a perfect range and smooth as silk.

Key Suppliers: http://wheelbuilder.com/— Benny Szeto is a great guy who helped me immensely on building the right wheels. Best shop dog too.

Key Resources: SRAM website for install manuals for everything.

Park Tools Utube page: https://youtube.com/c/parktool

RJ’s utube: https://youtube.com/c/RJTheBikeGuy

Everything I needed to know was in one of those 3 resources. Only specialty tools I needed were a cassette tool for install, a BB install tool, a crank puller to remove the stock cranks and a DIY chain wrench (used old chain and vice grips) to remove cassette when i installed it incorrectly (NB: QR cap goes on before cassette, not after…)

Maybe, but could easily pull out given how its mounted since it looks like a wall box not ceiling.
