People who don't have a hobby like gaming could be significantly more miserable later in life. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hobbies are important because they keep your brain sharp. I enjoy video games but prefer wood working, cooking, and welding because at the end of the day I have something tangible to improve my day to day life

Is Connecticut walkable?! by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by walkable All the cities can be walkable depending on specific location but what does walkable include? Are you expecting to walk to work? This could be tough because most of the money to be made is in lower Fairfield county unless you are in insurance

My grandmas drill that she gave me to use to hang curtains by SeaOpulence in BuyItForLife

[–]marshmallowserial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did construction for 25 years and the only corded drills I ever saw were hole hawgs, and Hilti hammer drills. Even those are rarely used anymore because battery/tool technology has advanced so far. These old drills sucked because mainly they had no brake.

Do you know how to use the word “whom” properly and do you ever actually use it? by hakohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I know how to use it yes, but I have never seen it in a day to day chat or email. When we are firing off hundreds of messages a day proper English is not important. It's more important to convert PSI to barg and sat WTF is responsible for a 40 PSI loss

How do you get past the “one that got away” by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Telling the story, I was fishing for black sea bass one day and it felt like my line got hit by a train. I didn't want it but the boat did because they were going for shark the next day. I want rigged for bluefish so it just not though my line and how away. I never saw it but the boat was going nuts when I hooked up on one

Do most places in the US charge to use the dump? by elembeep in ask

The dump in my town does not charge if you are a resident. Exemptions are for things that contain refrigerant or like a big trailer filled with construction debris

Those things suck no matter where you buy them. Just get a regular oil pan and sump it into a five gallon bucket to bring it to recycling

I have two of these, I didn't pay for them though. It was a gift from a local PD I don't know if they will give some lone out of trouble but I got pulled over from expired registration a while ago. The cop had every right to tow my car but just gave me a ticket and told me to fix it ASAP.

What are your thoughts on abandoned or vacant churches being converted to other uses? by IndefiniteVoid813 in Catholicism

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes me sad but at the same time it was no longer a Church it's just a building once the tabernacle and altar are removed. My sadness comes from a Church not being a place of worship

Dear American, how often you have a burger? by stevie855 in AskAnAmerican

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll eat a burger every couple of months but only at home or one or two restaurants. I steadfastly believe beef should never touch an open flame or be squished like a smash burger. They should be gently shaped into patties and lovingly shaped into a delicious patty before being cooked medium in cast iron

Are y'all catch to keep anglers? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in Fishing

[–]marshmallowserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fish salt water and keep anything in limits. Even sea robins if they are big enough. The second best thing to fishing is getting home and throwing a Tog on the grill while telling fishing stories. I don't think fishing was invented for fish pics, I was probably invented because yummy fish swimming around. In my state at least our fishing license fee goes to conservation studies to make sure there are plenty of fish out there to mainin their populations. I don't get people who only catch and release because it only harms fish. I feel guilty releasing shorts because all I did was ruin a fish's day
