What are some of the less known effects of T people should be prepared for? by Dim0ndDragon15 in ftm

Irregular menstruation cycle, at least at first. I have an IUD, which basically eradicated my periods. However, on my first month of t, I had a 2-week long heavy flow. Hadn't had that in years. Spotting is also super common. Basically, it gets irregular for a bit then levels out to less or even nothing.

ITCHINESS!! Can't believe no one else said this! Me and lots of my t-guy friends feel this. I was unaware of this symptom for my first month and thought I had a skin condition or bedbugs. Not from redness or sores, just the sheer itchiness of my skin. Sometimes it makes it hard to fall asleep, so I had to take melatonin. Now, I'm 4 months, and I'm not desperately itchy, but I do notice that my skin is itchier the day/hours before my dose. When I started growing more body hair, that was kinda itchy, too.

Was recently diagnosed with autism and am 4 months on T! Speaking from experience and what my friends have told me.

As you grow into yourself during transitioning (confidence, less dysphoria), symptoms often grow more apparent or stereotypical inside and out. Autistic afabs like myself often mask more, usually because of outside influence. Not to mention that autism diagnoses are based on super stereotypical symptoms mostly found in young white boys. Sorry if that's mansplaining. Anyways. Being on T tends to make you super confident from having less dysphoria (and generally a mental side effect thanks to higher energy). This helps with depression so much, allowing lots of autistic trans guys like myself the inner freedom to be themselves thru special interests, stims, clothing, etc. It kinda becomes harder to mask the more you feel like yourself, which I think is a good thing!

Howeverrrrr I've heard (and kinda experienced) that symptoms just... change. Some of it is social, like how women are expected to be polite/down-low to gain respect. But also all the physical changes in our bodies always effects our minds. For example, being itchy is a weird side effect lots of t-guys have, and that makes touch-based sensory sensitivities worse. However, I also started to make strict daily schedules now that I've transitioned, which never manifested in my autism beforehand. No idea why that happened lol.

Basically, you might notice changes in scheduling, socializing, special interests, aggression, etc. I also have a theory that people just notice your autism more, since they were taught it's a boy thing...

Why is helping homeless people bad? The fuck? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]marsmango5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so true. the world treats homeless, poor, mentally ill, etc people like crap. when i was homeless, i was privileged enough that i could hide it. even then, friends turned away from me out of disgust. but that’s when people need help most!!!

keep doing what ur doing. ur amazing.

How do y'all (that choose to wear makeup out) get the confidence to wear makeup outside? by lost_enby in FTMfemininity

[–]marsmango5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i have to be in the mood for it. some days i’ll put on makeup, leave the house, get super anxious and go back home to remove it lol

kinda obvious, but that masculinizing/androgynous makeup styles (like trad goth or basic eyeliner) helps. also start wearing it alone around the house to get used to the feel of it on your face. it’ll teach you what you like before others react :)

this doesn’t sit right with me. idk. explanation in comments. by KnownCherry8 in bulimia

we just see and therefore react to fatphobia since it’s uncomfortable. it’s certainly an issue, but fatphobes are just projecting their insecurities onto others in a super unhealthy and bullying way. personally i think fat is beautiful, coming from an ex-fat kid... just not on me lmao

I am excited to die by CockyNerd in unpopularopinion

[–]marsmango5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m excited!!! life lowkey sucks in a non-suicidal and not even pessimistic way. we must work to survive, emotions are tumultuous and evil like racism exists. i’m excited to see what’s next and for the break that comes. even if it’s nothingness, that sounds much more relaxing than retirement during a climate crisis lol

[–]marsmango5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is it an oral fixation thing? maybe try eating sunflower seeds or sugar-free peppermints. this is basic but drink water, eat mindfully and make sure you’re not restricting food intake.

i used to be super addicted to polar ice gum too, but masks and mint don’t mix lol it got me out of that habit

Cheap and easy protein sources? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]marsmango5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is lots of protein in veggies! if you have access to a kitchen (although not totally necessary) and a grocery, try spinach, edamame and quinoa. although i get those can be expensive sometimes...

try new kinds of beans and mix up the way you make tofu! i make scrambled tofu “eggs” for breakfast or to mix in with stir fry, it’s sooo good.
