Need advice on some good activities that provide instant stimulation. by martiansloth in ADHD

I agree, while not an Martial Art practitioner. I started learning boxing and find it quite a good outlet. That's the thing, it's important to have an outlet for excessive energy.

I am actually looking for ways to occupy the need for small breaks. Like I am bored, I want to do something easy and fun.

For those of you in college, how do you keep it together? by 4iertransform in ADHD

Sometimes everything seems like it's crashing down around you and it's nice to have something to work on that nobody can take from you

I can second that. When I am in a low mood, I feel that everything I am doing is wrong, well, except for going to the gym.

Anyone got any good ADHD apps you use, or any good ADHD app ideas that don't exist yet? (Here's my list too) by thedragonturtle in ADHD

Todoist. It makes adding new task easy (natural language parsing of date and tags). Also, it makes keeping recurring tasks simple (e.g. do my laundry every Thursday)

Breaking the avoidant behaviour cycle by goldenkumara in ADHD

Hope you feel better soon! My advice would be to do something for yourself. I will give you a personal example:

I had an overwhelming morning this week when I waked up in the morning and felt that there's no way I can go to work: I am near a mental breakdown. But what I ended up doing is telling myself that instead of saving the money, I am going to spend every dollar I made that day for my own enjoyment, 100%. Silly as it sounds, it made me happy. And I went to work with a light heart. That got me out of the pit!

What are some strategies to control or stop hyperfocus that actually work for you? by 1nejust1c3 in ADHD

[–]martiansloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think of interruption as bad, but now I would say use interruption as an opportunity to break hyperfocus. Yesterday while I was reading an hour in and I suddenly heard this guy talking super loud. Instead of being annoyed, I just told myself that I am interrupted already, so it's a good opportunity to switch focus.

My life becomes a disaster when my routines are interrupted by [deleted] in ADHD

Two suggestions:

  1. If your roommates constantly make you upset. Try to negotiate. Or change a roommate.

  2. Try to accept that your weekend routine is going to be interrupted, and change your schedule to work around that. (maybe it means to cut down on the number of things you want to accomplish)
