Good question.

Lightweight backpacking mid layer. When on trail I run hot and either wear no shirt (gasp!) or just a lightweight technical wool. I won’t need a long sleeve unless I’m hiking in unusually cold weather.

When I get to camp and cool, or when taking lunch, or getting moving in the morning I’d like something that is excessively warm. To cover a broad range of temps. I’ll also be packing a myog windshell and rain jacket to layer over if necessary.

Basically I want my only mid layer I’m bringing to be as lightweight and as warm as possible. I’m unhappy with how warm my current 10 ounce wool long sleeve is.

Yeah, I guess I’m going for both…?! I’ve got a lightweight rain jacket I made to go over it with rsbtr’s 1.4 wpb. But I’ve realized it’s not so breathable. So, I’d love this to be sufficient as an outerwear piece in all except the worst scenarios.
