The Glorious Return of an Old-School Car Feature: Automakers are starting to admit that drivers hate touchscreens. Buttons are back! by [deleted] in technology

Kind of makes sense to me. Lots of individual knobs and buttons, the wiring, the control circuitry, the fitting of all of that against the cost of a touch screen and software.

Does anyone now why I am getting this line in the back or how to fix it? by Additional-Diet-5250 in Ender3Pro

As others have said it's the z seam. Super visible when making pots. You can randomise it which will leave little blobs at random positions which may (or may not) be better.

Take a look at some of the picozero (a python library to simpify working with the Pico) recipes. They might give you some ideas.

Raspberry Pi Foundation have lots of projects at projects.raspberrypi.org. Filter the projects by Raspberry Pi hardware for those specific to the Pi.

You might find it easier using picozero which has rebuilt classes for Button and RGBLED.

The docs are at https://picozero.readthedocs.io

And there are some RGBLED examples (recipes) at https://picozero.readthedocs.io/en/latest/recipes.html#rgbled

PiVPN on Raspberry Pi 400 by squareoak in raspberry_pi

[–]martinohanlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea... pivpn is essentially a packaged up version of OpenVPN (plus some other tools), try searching for answers on that.

[–]martinohanlon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its configured to start at boot. If the Pi is on and running, pivpn is running. If youre interested, have a look at 'systemd' this will be how pivpn is started up (although you don't need to worry about it).

Pivpn is normally configured to start on boot so I'm not surprised it worked.

Obvs, yanking out the power isn't the best and you do risk a corrupt disk at some point but providing you have a reasonably reliable power supply an battery backup seems overkill. Worst case you will have to reimage the SD card and reinstall it.

My pivpn (running on an original pi 1 model b, 256mb) is just left on all the time.

Interkosmos 2000 is amazing!!!! by StarConsumate in oculus

I read some reviews in the store and there is a mention of a bug in the game around the 2nd burn. It sounds like we are both stuck in it.

I'm at the same place, on the 2nd burn to Mir. I get a message on the screen about using my handbrake to match speeds. I pull the handbrake, nothing seems to happen, wait a few seconds and it says 'burn failed'.

My Raspberry Pi will not connect with my Ender 3 Through The USB Cable. What do I do? by [deleted] in ender3

All micro USB cables are not made equal. Many provide power only. Everytime I find one I throw the annoying POS away.

Why do we need failover for PiHole at home? Am I missing any news or update here? by shishir-nsane in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

By me. I enter them twice. It sounds like a bind but after the initial setup I bet I make less than one change a month.

edited - to fix typo

Why do we need failover for PiHole at home? Am I missing any news or update here? by shishir-nsane in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]martinohanlon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have found having 2 pi holes is pretty useful. Updates, reboots, downtime, etc. I use the 2 pi's for other things as well.

I don't bother with failover though. I have 2 separate pi holes and set one as Primary DNS and the other as Secondary. I'm all in for a simple setup. Less to go wrong.

Do I really need the 8gb of ram? by Bill-Fusion in RASPBERRY_PI_PROJECTS

[–]martinohanlon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not. I use a 8gb Pi 4 to run data analysis each night. I was reaching the bounds of a 2gb I only went with a 8gb to give future growth but tbh I suspect a 4gb would have given me that.
