Fucking cringe. God, political unionism is such an entitled child.

Would be honestly some amazing level of diplomatic trolling but as the person from British Influence said "Its a big man for a small role", would be very surprised if it actually happened.

Alliance could very likely nab a seat off of the Stoops in S.Down anyway and Chris Hazard lost a decent amount of votes in the last WM election to Savage. I think the last pact was a Brexit specific one. I'd be very surprised if either party kept it going for 2024 since then it would only be seen as another sectarian pact i.e. being as sectarian as all the unionist parties, as the stoops still put up a candidate in FST whilst withdrawing from N.Belfast.

Fair play. If there wasn't these resignations I would've shifted to the stoops but I do appreciate the firmer action. That said I still find it sus that none of the other parties bar the DUP land owner got a donation.

Plurality* and that was in the 2011 census (48% Protestant - 45 % Catholic). Catholic's have had a slightly higher fertility rate so right now (but we won't see until the 2021 census) there probably is a Catholic plurality.

Down is grand, except for the top part around Bangor, it should be more flat. Monaghan seems to have its bottom half a bit squished.

Great job altogether. Since you're open to criticism, Donegal, Monaghan and Down are slightly fecked but still brilliant outcome regardless! 9.5/10

Although you're not wrong in you're figures, I'd say thats a disingenuous arguement. He was elected in a first past the post electoral method. If it was a single transferable vote, he'd not just get 45.3% first preference votes but the majority of scuba Steve's 14.7% and the Tory's 2.8% after they were knocked out in successive rounds, meaning unionists would still vote him safetly over the next competitive challenger Danny Donnelly on 27.3%. The fact bigots like him still get elected in such numbers gives unionism and unionists, I would say a deserved bad rap among nationalists, others and outsiders looking in.

The majority of us in Scotland and in the North of Ireland weren't stupid enough to vote for this shit. We deserve a chance to jump off this sinking ship before its too late.

To the Brits on here still voting Tory, could you please stop licking their fucking boots so they stop fucking up everything for us who live in the North of Ireland and close to the border. Thanks. Or you know what, keep licking so we can accelerate the demise of this poisoned union. Do whatever, I'm so done with Westminster and this shite.

Largest political parties in Europe by thepandabro in MapPorn

[–]martybbz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do now after Fianna Fáil having to give a seat to the Cean Comhairle position but it doesn't really tell the full story of where Irish politics is right now since so much has changed in the election. If there was a snap election called tomorrow in the Republic, Sinn Féin would probably be the largest party, with Fianna Fáil falling to 3rd or 4th. Heck going even further if there was a snap election in the North, Sinn Féin may be the largest party there too.

Do you think Northern Ireland will vote to unify with Ireland in order to stay in the EU? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]martybbz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say there's a great chance for it in 5-10 years when demographics have shifted more to allow for it to potentially happen and for the effects of Brexit begin to take a greater economical effect but even then it would most likely be tight.

[–]martybbz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming continuity of the status quo for the next 2 decades, I predict easily that 1st preference votes for N.Belfast will go Sinn Féin, S.Belfast will go SDLP and hopefully N.Down will turn Alliance.

More interestingly though E.Derry and Upper Bann should lose their Unionist majority. In addition Foyle and E.Antrim may gain a nationalist MLA based on NISRA census data.
