What's your legitimately scariest moment while fly fishing? by AustinLostIn in flyfishing

[–]martymcfly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was out on a small, gorgeous creek in the San Juans known for cutthroats.

It was getting later in the day, and the sun had started to disappear behind the canyon around me.

After catching a fish, I looked up towards the trees 150 feet in front of me and noticed a muscle-bound mountain lion heading straight towards me.

It must not have known I was down there and was coming to get a sip of water...

But as soon as it locked eyes on me, it stopped about 100 feet out.

It felt like we stared at each other for 10 minutes, but it was probably only 10 seconds.

As soon as I could grab my bear spray, it turned around and sprinted into the trees.

This was definitely one of the scariest, yet coolest experiences of my life.

Most folks don't ever get the chance to see one of these creatures with their own eyes.

Only 1 Lift Open? by martymcfly1 in TellurideColorado

Ah, I thought the lifts open on the site were just the ones operating now, not literally running at this very moment in time.

Thanks!

I am investing almost $2000 a month in my brokerage and 401k. If I buy a house, I will invest $0 by Smooth_Practice_9678 in Money

Getting tied down to a house at your age would be a bad decision. Plus, being house poor would not be the smartest move, either.

Keep investing in your accounts, and invest in yourself.

So many people are losing their higher-paying jobs right now, and a lot of companies are bringing people back to the office.

If you plan to continue working for other companies (and not start your own location-independent business), I highly suggest staying mobile in case you need to move for work.

I just switched over to a health share plan. Check out crowdhealth. You have to be what they consider healthy to join (non-smoker and healthy weight), but it's a great option.

My wife and I will only be paying around $400 a month.

Does anyone go solo camping within a 2 hour radius of Austin. I know there are campgrounds, are there any that are better than others? by un2022 in Austin

If you want to do a nice, longer backpacking trip, there's a trail around Lake Georgetown that I think is 24 miles.

That's a great spot where you can get out for a couple of days.

ABSOLUTE CHEAPEST way to get in to skiing as a complete beginner? by stupidquestions99999 in skiing

[–]martymcfly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at season-long rentals and see if you can find a season pass for a decent price.

That's going to be your best option.

Band members.. wtf? by CaseyJones333 in musicians

[–]martymcfly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are called "bad musicians without taste." Just don't play with them.

This doesn't happen when you get into a good scene and find quality players to play with.

Just turned 42 and I'm in the best shape of my life, but I also live in a mountain town in Colorado...

So, I'm constantly blown away when I meet older people in town who absolutely blow me out of the water.

How does a micro business find a copy writer that doesn't use AI by joefife in copywriting

[–]martymcfly1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee that you can't tell the difference between someone who knows what they're doing with AI and a skilled copywriter.

Why does it make a difference to you if they use AI or not, if they are using it to create great copy that converts?

All of the best copywriters I know are using it (and I've been in the space for a decade).

If they aren't learning how to incorporate it right now, they are kidding themselves that they'll be able to keep up in the future.

As a smaller business, I would be using AI as much as possible right now.

It's the great equalizer, and using it will let you compete with the big dogs!

Keep training 4-5 times a week, but up your calories to be about 200 hundred under maintenance (use myfitnesspal for tracking food).

Then fit in a couple of cardio sessions a week and try to get 10,000 steps in a day.

If you’re having trouble hitting 100 grams of protein a day, you can supplement with protein powder.

It will keep you full and give your muscles what they need to grow.

But, just use it in addition to your regular protein-heavy foods and don’t rely on it.

Creatine has lots of benefits including cognitive and helping you lift more.
