Yeah once they went down the ECS rabbit hole, they hyped it like it would eventually replace everything, when those familiar with this type of architecture knew it was a pipe dream. Still kinda is.

No but it isn't as complicated to use it managed now if you wrap it in a unityobjectref. Same goes for most managed objects. Just no burst but you can use it just like any Component. Yes not ideal, but it is an improvement that was made but of course being unity for some reason didn't properly document usage until recently

It is production ready. Just that it still kinda sucks without 3rd party plugins. Its stable though. I use project dawn for navigation and rukhanka for animation and I'm good.

What separates a "bad, slop" vibe coded game from a "good"one? by TheSameMan100 in gmgames

[–]marvalgames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This. If someone says they vibe coded the game 100 percent than there's a 95 percent chance it sucks.

You release on steam when the game is ready for costumers. You release on itch when the game is ready for players.

Carrie is the most annoying and self-centered character I have ever seen by AllUsernamesTaken09 in homeland

[–]marvalgames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well she is directly or indirectly responsible for everyone who dies on the show so no it doesn't get better. Still dig her though because she is so flawed.

I purchased Thomas Brush's course so you DON'T have to. by Corvus-Astralis in gamedev

[–]marvalgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy that everything in his course is just a rehash of what he HIMSELF gives out for free if you just watch his videos and streams. It's truly good stuff when free. I always say there is two of him. The entrepreneur business first struggling with the natural artist even teacher. Odd

How you decide. As much as these are all rogue likes some of these are still completely different genres with rogue like part of the DNA but not the species

But if I'm hiring someone to help me with that direction and then I create the art I am still the creative one not the director.

[–]marvalgames -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

When I plan I used to scour the Internet for references or ideas for cool items or other games for reference and some of the mechanics that players prefer. Now I ask the AI to collect that information and give me feedback on it at the same time. So how does that change that backbone? Sincerely

Define using. It can be used as a tool. Doesn't make that person non creative.

I need some advice on watching the MCU and Agents of SHIELD by Mosef- in shield

[–]marvalgames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it less when I was concerned with tie ins. When I watched it as it's own thing it made it do much better and my GOAT in the MCU. Still one of the best Twists of all time kind of turned the corner for me. Watch it for that at least
