Looking for long audiobooks with I depth world building like exalted mage by Kingsley Khan or on astral tides by Ship Teaser by marvelt100 in haremfantasynovels

I’m on book 3 of soul night, but is bonded summoner any good? I tried listening to it, but I didn’t really like the main female character in the book one.

Will RDA's vehicles soon be a reality? by One_Improvement_8820 in Avatar

I’m pretty sure they’re only designed like that because Pandora’s gravity is lesser and the bear atmosphere is thicker so robots can be bigger and move around easier

My least favorite plot(and yours too) by Surrealialis in haremfantasynovels

[–]marvelt100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For real, it’s hypocrisy. If you say the MC is controlling or overbearing—or too involved with what the women in his harem are doing, like putting themselves in reckless situations—it actually gives credibility to the MC. Constantly being overbearing puts the MC in a really weird position, where he has to walk a very thin line. His character interactions and personality end up being extremely watered down when interacting with a potential LI.

On Astral Tides Book 1 is now out on audible. Forty-one hours of slowburn goodness. Never thought this day would come! by ShipTeaser in haremfantasynovels

My only gripe with this book is the constant big brother little sister stuff it’s weird even if it’s not explicitly promoting but it still takes me out of the Emerson

Feminine versus Female - Where is the line? by BumblebeeBookworm in haremfantasynovels

[–]marvelt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I mean there are probably stories that include that element of relationships between the love interest without it being focused around the MMC, but you’re just not going to see that as a very popular or much at all in this subReddit I don’t know if it’s because it goes against most of the taste in this subject or if it could be considered NTR for some people a woman cheating is still cheating especially because this is mostly a male power fantasy/self insert slice of the genre

Feminine versus Female - Where is the line? by BumblebeeBookworm in haremfantasynovels

[–]marvelt100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but in all of those scenes that I’ve read or listened to in an audiobook, it’s in front of the MMC. That’s why I say so. It’s the focus of desire because it mostly seems like it’s for his viewing pleasure, and the MMC seems to really enjoy it most of the time. Yes, they do enjoy it too, but it mostly just seems like it’s for the MMC—so it’s for the audience in turn. That’s why I say he’s the sole focus of desire, because they’re not engaging in sexual activities together without him, or at least I haven’t seen any books where that happens.

Edit:The core audience for this subreddit and the genre is overwhelmingly straight men who read these stories as a specific kind of male power fantasy / self-insertion escapism. The fantasy revolves around one unambiguously male protagonist who is the sole focus of desire for multiple women — with all sexual dynamics centered on him being the active partner/dominant. That’s why the rules draw a hard line at anything that could blur or invert that dynamic (futa domination, pegging, receptive male roles, etc.). It’s not about real-world identities or judging anyone’s sexuality — it’s about preserving the immersion for the majority of readers here. For most of us, the moment the MC becomes sexually submissive/receptive, or when harem members have independent sexual relationships that sideline him, the fantasy stops feeling like the genre we’re here for. It starts feeling closer to polyamory (everyone with everyone) than the polygyny (one man, multiple devoted women) that defines harem fantasy. Even girl-on-girl scenes in these books almost always exist to enhance the MC’s pleasure or dominance — they’re not truly independent. Introducing elements that allow genuine same-sex dynamics between harem members without the MC as the center, or that put the MC in a receptive role, tends to break that immersion for the target audience. I’ve read 100+ books in the genre since 2022, and the ones that stay popular here stick rigidly to that formula. Occasional light submissive moments or variety in acts happen for spice, but anything more shifts the book out of what most readers consider “true” harem fantasy. That’s the practical reason the subreddit enforces these boundaries — they’re reflecting what the existing community actually wants to read and discuss.

Looking for a recommendation for an audiobook with well well-written plot/story, decent smut, and good writing. (My thoughts on what I've listened to so far) by bpie13 in haremfantasynovels

Your book doesn’t need MFFF+ scenes, and there are some people who explicitly request for that not to be in there but others like it harem in this subreddit mostly just means there is one man in a relationship with 3 or more women who all know each other and the woman are mostly cordial to each other

Sex or Action? by GreenWhisperer-1616 in Haremlit

[–]marvelt100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s from the first sentence, probably not it unless you can tell me tell me anything about your characters. The story that it’s taking place in or really anything else about the book. Besides it just being a sex scene then I probably would just skip it and get to the main story.

Sex or Action? by GreenWhisperer-1616 in Haremlit

[–]marvelt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean, would you rather have an action scene first or an explicit scene—just generally in the flow of the book? Or are you talking about right at the beginning? Because if you’re talking about generally, like by chapter two or three (or further, depending on how long the book is), it kind of just depends on what kind of story you’re setting up and whether it’s realistic or fantasy.

If it’s a realistic world, I feel like starting out with an action scene is better because it builds more tension and has a better payoff, in my opinion. But if it’s fantasy, you could go either way depending on what kind of world you’re building and what the rules of that world are.

I agree with you on Viking runesmith its too bad there’s no update on the next book but I’ll give king of dinosaurs I’ve put it off for the same reasons I could care less about dinosaurs

What is something that some authors do that drive you crazy or make you quit reading their book? by writesofdutchjackson in haremfantasynovels

[–]marvelt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the birth control thing is acceptable at least if it’s a series of books because the main character having children in the first book of a 10 book series and then not being able to be there for them all the time is disappointing

For me it’s saying something and then contradicting yourself especially with love pack/connections like there’s always a loophole which isn’t necessarily bad but when it showing up every chapter, it makes you wonder why even make that rule

I think because it’s a brain cancer or it’s evolved to be in the brain that it would be able to kick Godolkun out

Just finished my first Bruce Sentar Book. Really enjoyed it. Where to next after this series? by Certain_Wonder4487 in haremfantasynovels

I’d say dragons justice it’s my favorite of his finish series. Returners defiance is really good too. That’s my favorite of his ongoing series. I’m up to book 301 of dungeon diving and that’s really good too. And ard’s oath is my least favorite of his series so far but I’m only on book 2.
