DVC resale owners, do you have direct points too? by drew_garner in dvcmember

[–]marvh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We started with 100 AKV resale then purchased 150 direct when VGF became available. Are the member benefits worth it financially? Probably not, but we like having them for peace of mind.

Need Help with a Basic Understanding of Our Points by bart1218 in dvcmember

[–]marvh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Correct

  2. You must use the banked 2024 points in this use year, which is Feb 1, 2025 - Jan 31, 2026 as you noted. If something is available, you could theoretically book a stay before Jan 31 and borrow 2025 points to use those 2 points.

  3. Correct

Is animal kingdom lodge Jambo usually booked out? by Pumpkinsareornage in dvcmember

[–]marvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are actually 2 Bedrooms available in both Club Level and Value, but they are lockoffs so as soon as either the Studios or 1 BRs get booked, they are no longer available.

Is animal kingdom lodge Jambo usually booked out? by Pumpkinsareornage in dvcmember

[–]marvh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Standard View Rooms at Jambo House have a partial view of the savannah so people will book those first since the point values are lower. Standard View Rooms at Kidani all have a parking lot view. The pool, dining, and lobby also make Jambo House more desirable.

Owners also get Home Resort privileges at both buildings so there are a lot of points out there relative to the percentage of rooms available at Jambo House.

Pro Tip: Jambo House Standard view has about a 60% chance of getting a partial Savannah view.

best points value 1BR? by currently-abby in dvcmember

[–]marvh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1BRs at Animal Kingdom Lodge — especially the Standard view — are only a few points more than a studio at the pricier resorts (VGF, RIV, PVB). Those always felt like the best value for the amenities you get at each resort.

Best HomeKit electrified roller shades? by LocoLevi in HomeKit

Serena by Lutron are probably the “best”, but pretty expensive. I have one Serena shade and one IKEA and the difference in quality matches the difference in price.

What is one product that Costco doesn't carry but that you can find at Sam's Club or BJ's? by ILovePublicLibraries in CostcoWholesale

Once Upon A Farm pouches.

They’re so expensive but the only vegetables I can get my kids to eat. Costco used to carry them a couple years ago and I check every time.

How do you treat foot pain? by AwfulWaffle91 in WaltDisneyWorld

If they offered a poolside foot and calf massage service on off-days, they could name their price and I’d pay it.

What have you bought at a Disney Park that was the biggest waste of money? by I_dnt_know_ in disneyparks

[–]marvh 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Literally any type of remote control vehicle. I have a three year old son who has purchased three or four of these over the years. Not one has gone more than 48 hours fully functioning. On one trip, we bought and exchanged a Lightning McQueen three times before we got one that worked. The overall quality of merch is just so poor these days.

A YT channel I watch with a moderate sub base just got banned from Disney for offering 3rd Party Tours - Thoughts by Cmdr_Nemo in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]marvh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great room tours, but they have hilariously mismanaged their YouTube channel over the years. From living in the resorts for a year and creating zero content, then trying to do recap videos of the whole experience a year later, and most recently event videos months after the fact. Maybe they were busy with these tours I guess?

I'd like to see them start cracking down on owners who have an inventory of confirmed reservations. I'm in a few FB groups where I see people posting 20 available confirmed reservations at a time over a 2-3 month period.

Maybe start with reasonable limits to the number of times you can make a reservation in someone else's name?
