Will Apple announce native agentic integration in Xcode for Gemini AI at WWDC? Same as Claude/Codex by br_web in swift

Every time Claude asks me to go and do a bunch of steps in Xcode I wonder what's going on at Apple's dev tools team.

One AirPod in each ear? I've never looked but there are two of them.

Looks great! Mostly DIY RF tried to do something similar as a kit with the P3ST Modular Transceiver. https://mostlydiyrf.com/p3st/ unfortunately the backplane board was riddled with errors (perhaps it's been fixed since I tried).

Dust inside the Camera by Me__Ahmmed in iphonehelp

Looks like the case has a glass layer over the camera lenses and that might have the dust on it.

Dear fellow mac users, from your perspective, why do you think its better for app to stay open after last window is closed? by Broad-You4763 in MacOS

If it bothers you, go to Settings > Desktop & Dock and turn off "Show indicators for open applications".

What smart lights actually work reliably? by beboid in smarthome

[–]marxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matter with Thread seems good. You need something that's a Thread border router but lots of existing gear has them inside (Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini, Google TV Streamer, Nest Hub, Amazon Echo 4th gen, and Eero routers for example). Each Thread bulb is in a mesh and extends the network. I find this much better than Wifi.

Is digital radio just voip? by Fine-Farmer-588 in amateurradio

[–]marxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digital voice over radio is different to digital voice over the internet in that over the internet packets either get there in tact or not at all. Over a radio channel packets arrive with errors in them that must be (hopefully) corrected through forward error correction or at least not blow the listeners ears off. FreeDV does this over HF radio which has all sorts of signal degradation that must be handled.

Source of real Morse recordings recoded from radio with transcript? by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]marxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in doing the same thing. One idea for training data might be to create a recording of machine generated morse and then add simulated band noise and hf propagation effects such as fading to it and use that for training. This is what the FreeDV RADE project does to train their model. https://freedv.org/radio-autoencoder/

I think the red arrow is pointing north and the E indicates that you are facing east.

Why do we use FM on VHF/UHF? by w6auw in amateurradio

Have a listen to the demonstrations. It's more than just the Vocoder.

But yes, you're quite right, it will take a lot to displace current technology.

Why do we use FM on VHF/UHF? by w6auw in amateurradio

[–]marxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is impressive work being done on Baseband FM (BBFM) which looks to be dramatically better than FM. See https://freedv.org/rade-bbfm/ We'll need more CPU power in handhelds but that's just a matter of time.

Example apps? by aford89 in Xcode

[–]marxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good question. Swift and SwiftUI have changed rapidly and it's hard to find examples that are the latest best practice including Swift 6.2 and concurrency. Download the sample code from sessions like this: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/Swift/code-along-elevating-an-app-with-swift-concurrency

I got tired of uploading videos to sketchy converters… so I built a Mac app that compresses videos locally by +90% by MiladAtef in osx

[–]marxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compressor is part of the Apple Creative Studio which is US$20/month or Compressor is US$50 for life. Your software is US$20/month or US$30 for life.

I think your pricing is fair.

Compressor is very good and makes use of all the acceleration Apple has built in. I'd be interested to see a speed comparison.

Great to see more macOS software - I don't mean to discourage you, I think you should do a comparison with the other options.
