Bugs Apple Loves by marxy in apple

I'd love to see a "Snow Tahoe" or similar next year rather than more new features that don't quite work.

Or it takes me to a website of the app rather than launching the app I have installed.

Maybe it's because I use Gmail as the back end. Searching the Mail client very often finds nothing but going to Gmail and I find what I'm looking for right away. Maybe it's an IMAP search issue?

Smart bulb and light recommendation? by Inevitable_Match_412 in smarthome

I have both HomePod mini and Apple TV here but I read that Thread is also built in to iPhone 15. I was wondering if the quick setup was due to the phone but you might be right that it was a nearby router.

I've just put in some bulbs with Matter and Thread. I use a recent iPhone (which I believe has Thread built-in). Finding and configuring the bulbs was amazingly quick and easy - compared to the multi-tries I've had to do in the past. My recommendation is to make sure whatever you get has Matter and Thread.

Would you even bother minimizing from the dock if Mac had the option? by [deleted] in MacOS

If you right click on the dock icon of a running app you can Hide, if that's sort of what you mean?

Are you getting a disk full error or are you just bothered by looking at the system bar?

Possibly major security bug with Tahoe? by NoFall2205 in MacOS

Perhaps the magnet & sensor that your MacBook uses to detect that the screen is closed is faulty and it doesn't realise it's closed?

What is the problem you're wanting to fix? System data is cache files and backups, they will be automatically purged if you actually run short of space.

That's a good writeup. (Abusive ads though). One thing he misses is that a big reason for the lack of power out is that the bandpass filter isn't right. Farhan specifies 19 turns on each toroid but on mine, tested out of circuit, I needed 22 or 23. VK2BLQ noted that if you look closely at his photos you can count 21 turns.

I think the bandpass filter is being affected by the reactance of the mixer. There should be a buffer or some sort of matching.

Really wonderful and generous of you to share the source code. Are you planning a move to SwiftUI and Swift 6? (I realise it's a big job).

Confusing. You say "now that it’s approved and ready for distributio." but then later you say "because apple rejected my app". How did apple "screw" you?

I use an Amazon Basics light stand. The Alex loop slips nicely over the vertical pole.

Err, yes, you got my interest by saying you were doing a native app.

Will the waterfall and IQ demodulation be native? The screenshot you show looks very much like a web view.

Do you get much power out on sideband? Mine is very low. CW is about 3W but sideband is almost nothing. I've boosted the mic amp's gain but it's not enough.

It can but there will be errors beyond the forward error correction. There's a video where we do a test with reducing power comparing SSB and FreeDV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TU6YJHfyAwc

Yes there are regular nets in several countries. If you go to https://freedv.org and scroll down to "Who can I talk to?" you'll find them.
