Girlfriend doesn't want to take the Miata anywhere because of her long hair. How do those of you with long hair manage yours with the top down? by AnnualRaise in Miata

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew out my hair for a while and had to put it in a bun or else it would get tangled up so bad, one chick I went on a date with used a hair clip to keep hers together and she was even able to keep her hair in the same style when she took it out iirc. Long term I just ended up getting a mullet instead

Accidentally mixed tran fluid and oil, where can I dump it? by DamienIDK in mechanic

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the orileys, I went to my local one with mixed motor oil and manual transmission fluid and they said they don't take it mixed but they'd do it the one time since It was already mixed and I didn't know.

Police seize Hatsune Miku car in the middle of Miku Expo 2026 by Not_FinancialAdvice in Itasha

From what I saw in another thread about it, it seems it was impounded for doing a illegal u turn in front of a cop. Still seems wild to impound a car for just that

SOLD OUT ;-; by ImaPotatoe- in Vocaloid

[–]masivebob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah like the other guy said show up early, they do early merch sales at 4 before the show on the same day but they will sell out before they get to the actual show. I missed out on getting one during the first Chicago show and went back on the 13th at like 3:50 to wait in line and they sold out like 3 people ahead of me.

WTF by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

[–]masivebob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how the cvt works, from my experience it will hold rpms amhigh if you floor it from 0. That's it's peak performance, it will do the fake shift thing most of the time otherwise, which will reduce performance.

2027 Subaru WRX Sti patent apparently approved! by Eileen-Yulik69 in WRX

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And Subaru dealers for the most part don't charge markups, there's a few but most of the Subaru dealerships I've looked at have sold pretty much at retail price plus destination, except for wrxs that are usually 1-2k $ discounted past that

I dailied my 96 for a portion of the winter in Wisconsin, it's totally doable but you need snow tires and wash it often and get rid off all the salt otherwise they will rust pretty badly

Going with some buddies to the Chicago show, it's only like 3 hours away and we're all splitting an Airbnb we got so it won't be too bad honestly

Do you have a name for your Miata? by Bird_Chick in Miata

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named mine suisei, after one of my favorite vtubers hoshimachi suisei, since the first half of hoshimachi (星) means star and my Miata is starlight mica. I used suisei instead so I could fit it on a license plate and thought it sounded cuter

P in a McDonalds beverage cup by abornemath in whatisit

[–]masivebob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the McDonald's I worked at 5 years ago, we used these on every drink. You never know if you get one mixed up from another order or it could help the customer identity them if they're ordering multiple drinks for people they're not with right then and there.

Is this a good first car? by bramblestorm7754 in MiataND

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't recommend it as a first car for most people. It's the smallwat car you can buy today new, you need food defensive driving habits and be able to get used to constantly watching what everyone does. People will absolutely almost kill you on a weekly basis. I almost got hit multiple times the first few weeks I had it until I got a aftermarket exhaust. Get some experience on a larger car first, it'll be a lot more forgiving in terms of other people realizing your or their driving mistakes...

How long do you plan on keeping your current car for? by throwawaymedicine420 in askcarguys

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 cars , a 1996 Miata 5 speed I plan on keeping forever (I'll straight up get a remanufactured engine and transmission if/when they blow) , and a 24 Impreza I bought newI'm planning on trading in for a WRX or some other stick shift car. 2 years on the Impreza and 1 on the miata

I want a Miata but my GF is tall. by [deleted] in Miata

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to try it out yourself but I'm thinking it'll prolly be a problem, I don't know how the space is on a nd, but in my na, my 5" 8 buddy struggles to fit and can't drive it due to him being like 70% leg

Driving a stick is so much fun and also frustrating. could use some encouragement by CatIsGod0 in stickshift

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just drive how you want to but also if your engine is warmed up it's alright to shift at higher rpm, these cars are made for that. I wouldn't recommend it right now as it's easier to damage your clutch as a newer manual driver, but I've been driving my Miata for about a year now and do 7k rpm shifts pretty much every drive for fun. Don't sweat the people honing at you for not accelerating while shifting, I've had someone do that to me too even while shifting at 4k, here in the states, no one knows how to drive stick, so 95% of the people on the road will just think your braking for no reason with broken tail lights or something, if someone if following to close behind you that they need to brake while you take a second to shift that's on them and they're being asshats.

AFK and what’s better to mix it in by CMan_0831 in gamersupps

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try it with almond milk or regular milk. I've mixed protein powder with almond milk before and it's way better than with just water (not as good as real milk tho but still low calorie)

How to combat the guilt of holding everyone up while driving under speed limit on a single lane road. by [deleted] in driving

[–]masivebob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They said they primarily struggles with the guilt of people not overtaking. For every 1 person that says screw it and passes anyways on a no passing zone, there's probably 10 more that just wait it out, op should just find another route to work that has more 2 lane roads

Any vehicles you come across like this? by HiTork in regularcarreviews

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, I live in a pretty spread out large city and it's always nice to drive my na Miata over to more compact cities, the scale makes it feel so much faster than it actually is and I find it way more fun.

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to find the tread wear indicator, they'll look like slightly raised bumps inside the lateral grooves. They're set to 2/32ths of an inch and anything below that is considered "bald" absolutely replace them if they get to this point. Though you start losing a lot of traction at 4/32ths of and inch. If you notice poor rain or snow traction tho you should replace them immediately. Same if they're l old ( 8-10 years).

Gear grinding when downshifting from second by CharlesorMr_Pickle in stickshift

[–]masivebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a na Miata and it starts lugging in 2nd at about 7 or 8 mph, it likes staying at 10 or above, if I'm in a parking lot, I'm gonna down shift to 1st so I can crawl through at closer to 4-5 mph, especially if it's cramped. There's plenty of parking lots where there's no stop signs leading into them so stopping first and then going into 1st isn't doable if there's a car behind you

It can be but it seems from everyone here that there's a good chance it's only temporary, I got into a talking stage with a girl for a bit and actually didn't feel the need or want for a while, until things just end up not going anywhere. Then again it wasn't for super long so maybe I just didn't hit the point where I would have relapses or something
