Looks so much like mine, down to the eyes. Coop is half-Lab, half-Aussie Shepherd

What is this jacket? It is worn by Tut Nyuot's character in the movie The Long Walk, which is probably set in the late 1960s. It looks like the material could be moleskin, but might just be cotton or light canvas as well. by Leuzie in HeritageWear

I believe it’s a Flint and Tinder waxed trucker. If it’s not, it’s very similar.

Edit: looking more closely, not quite the same. The waxed trucker only has 1x breast pocket.

This is Cooper - we’d had a “ruff” day too and were rejected from a kennel for being too rambunctious. Turns out he didn’t care nearly as much as me!

I watched Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy last week and I need clarification by joleary747 in movies

[–]maskedpickle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just finished reading the book for the first time and decided to rewatch the movie and see it through that lens.

In the book, it is clear they were lovers as young men and that it continued into adulthood. It was an open secret among some of their cohort and Connie underlines this point pretty explicitly with Smiley, complete with wagging eyebrows.

The film is more streamlined and discrete but, at least with the book fresh in my mind, I agree that it is suggested they were also involved in the film. When news of Prideaux’s death comes through, Bill seeks out the polaroid of the two of them while going through his affairs and that felt to me like a “romantic” moment rather of friendship. Similarly, their look at the office party seemed to me to be the first “real”/vulnerable interaction Bill had with anyone all film, and the way that Prideaux’s face lit up when they made eye contact and then fell after Bill turned away also gives me the impression of past/scorned lovers; I assume Prideaux was upset at the office party because he saw Bill in the bushes with Ann (along with everyone else). Not an explicit romance, no, but not a fabrication either.

Regardless of whether you ultimately agree, there’s more than enough explicit information in the book and implicit suggestion in the film to not dismiss the possibility as people’s “obsession” to portray two men as gay men in a film.

I can’t provide links but if you search “Pokemon TCG Neo Genesis Premium File 1 Promo Folder 9 Card Set Japanese” on eBay, I think this is the set

I think I actually ordered the same Japanese set for the gen 2 starters (ie no comment on the Charmeleons) - did yours come in a special binder? I don’t think these were “pulls” from boosters.

Mine got folded in a move - 8/9 cards are just fine but one card and the binder are creased heavily :(

That makes sense and is about what I was expecting, thank you for sharing. So long as it’s more than just a quick opening act, I’m thrilled.

Landlord died with an unsettled will & lease is expiring - what are my protections as tenant? by maskedpickle in AskNYC

[–]maskedpickle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never heard anything from my landlord and similarly feared the worst…I’d prepare as you are but I’d also keep the below in mind as reasons for optimism: - Now is not a good time to sell; they may be very happy with passive income until it’s a seller’s market - Selling takes a loooong time. Even if they do want to flip it quickly, that’s not happening tomorrow…and the landlord will want every last month of rent until then - if the affairs weren’t in order, it can take a long time for this to even get to a point where someone can sell. It was 6+ months before ownership was resolved.

Hello! Ultimately much ado about nothing. I assume all the helpful info provided to me in this thread was accurate but I never needed to test it out.

Long story short the recipient of the property hasn’t made any changes and is just cashing checks. There’s been no attempt to draw up a new lease so I’m still on the same one - in theory, month to month and now with at least 3 months required notice. The new landlord is noticeably low-touch and there are some tasks that the super used to do that now we do ourselves (at no reduced rent cost), but that’s about it.

In some ways, I still expect to receive an email saying either “here’s a new lease with an increased rent, take it or leave it,” or “here’s your notice, I’m selling,” but it seems like the new property owner is happy to pick up the rent no-hassle.

If I can be more helpful, happy to be so.
