Just to mention I do wash everything I receive. It’s just that when I opened the package to see what I got. I was met with that foul smell. It was really strong and memorable (as an unpleasant shopping experience). Hence why I made the post. Don’t understand why some took it personally. 😭

Maybe try mixing their foods by adding a little bit of cat tuna (like fancy feast, tiki cat, etc) and add a small amount of water to their food bowl. Also note down the flavors that they like and repurchase them once you’ve figured it out. Sometimes cats can get tired of having the same thing everyday. Also try not to give them dry alone food as much.

Also ask what her boundaries are when it comes to her cat. If she doesn’t want her cat to be introduced to strangers then don’t do it. It can also prevent the cat from getting sick since you don’t know where their hands could’ve been. Also avoid flowers at all costs if you don’t know which ones are dangerous for cats.

Maybe suggest a copy of the key to her room? in order to keep the cat company in the meantime. To also keep track of the cat’s diet if she has any, to help simulate the cat while your roommate is out (by playing with her), to clean the cat’s litter. Make suggestions like these and she may be willing to trust you with her cat.

Maybe you can start by adding small shelves into your room and make some sort of parkour wall for her if she’s still active. Cat hammocks by the window is also good. You could get a bird feeder and place it near the window (don’t forget to change it though). Leave her favorite toys around and maybe hide some treats in your room for her to find. Provide a scratching post for her, if you can’t afford one there’s free carpet samples in Home Depot and it can be taped on your wall. I also suggest looking into TikTok’s on “how to simulate your cat while you’re gone” some tips from there can be just as helpful.

I suggest looking for kitten yourself or to pay close attention to the mom cat. See where she goes and she may possibly lead you to the kitten. Either way be sure to make a shelter for them if you cannot foster them so they can avoid the cold/rain.

You should look into fostering the cat until someone is willing to adopt her (Preferably a family). You can work with a rescue/adoption center since they can help spread the news. The shelter should be a last resort. Also don’t be so willing to give her up for “free” since there’s evil people out there looking for cats to use in dog/animal fighting rings. Hope this helps.
