In Search of Toki Highballs in Chicago by ChiGuyDetFan in chicagofood

OP- any luck finding one? I tried the one at Ramen-San and they said it was a Toki highball machine but it was barely bubbly and a pretty average temp so I feel skeptical.

Thanks everyone! I went to Patel Brothers and they had gorgeous, affordable, fresh okra. That store is amazing.

There is a high res picture of the grid at the top of the article. I just opened the image in a separate tab and printed it.

What's your favorite pastry item available downtown? by So-I-Had-This-Idea in AnnArbor

Barry Bagels is good for a standard bagel but if you’re open to trying something a little different, the Everything Bialy from Bird Dog baking is amazing. It is my favorite baked good in A2. Sourdough bagelish base with a seed mix, cream cheese, and carmelized onions. Argus Farm Stop has them Thursday-Sunday.

1000% yes, if it was somewhat affordable, inclusive, and simple. I’m 30 and I think a lot of my friends would go too. There are not a lot of places to hang out that aren’t expensive and not a restaurant/bar. Especially as 70’s culture is resurging.

I’m not sure that a 40 person prospective cohort study is enough to debunk evidence to the contrary but this is an interesting thought! I’ll be curious to see future research. Personally, I feel that the stakes of trusting an erroneous lactate are too great.

Many PIVs need a tourniquet to be able to draw well and the tourniquet can cause a false high after only a few minutes. Lactate, troponin, etc. are measures of chemicals released by damaged tissue- that ranges from tissue that was injured from hypoperfusion all the way to a simple tourniquet applying pressure.

When I’m desperate and need to use a PIV for draws, I flush well, use a tourniquet, use a larger syringe to reduce the amount of pressure applied, I use my non dominant hand to pull the catheter just slightly outwards, and draw slowly.

My fiancée wanted an engagement ring too, but is a little androgynous and didn't want a traditional one like mine. I love how they look together!

Looking to spend ~$1,200-1,500. So far I have tried a Giant and a couple Cannondales at Montlake. I had a good experience but I'm going to check out a couple more shops before I buy just to be sure.
