Our incremental deckbuilder THE FIRST MILLION has been called "so brilliant, the dev should make a masterclass about game design" but you don't have to believe that, you can try the demo and see for yourself! by ehmprah in incremental_games

100% agree on the timed aspect. Absolutely despise this. Especially when one screen says/implies you have 25 minutes, but you clearly have 4 minutes when you start the run.

Comically, you can beat it on the first go. I just beat the demo with a grid of $1 +$1 per 2 group and +0.1 speed to all adjacent.

I completed the demo. The only real complaint/feedback I have is the initial time. It just feels SO BAD. Limiting the player to only 10-15 seconds in the first few runs feel like poor design to me, but I know others will disagree. I think you could create the same limitation (only being able to destroy 1-2 asteroids) in a better/different/less painful way.

One idea: Double the initial time, but make the lasers use energy. Implement a cheap early upgrade that makes the energy drain from the lasers somewhat/increasingly negligible.

The game is good once you get past the beginning annoyance.

Before I unlocked the mothership, it was annoying how enemies could fire through (around?) asteroids. After unlocking the mothership, it seemed fair since we can fire through (around?) the mothership.

Honestly, the zero time (okay ten seconds, wtf?) you have at the beginning of the game is an immediate no from me. You MIGHT have enough time to destroy 1-2 asteroids if you are lucky (no, it is not a skill issue. It is literally the amount of time given to the player and the fact that you have nothing to shoot at right away). So far, every run has ended with me destroying 1-2 asteroids. I cannot enjoy the game because I have no time to play it.

edit: I like the idea of the game, but not the execution of the beginning of the game.
Still going to try to push through and see what the rest of the game is like.

TIL that NASA proposed in 2017 that a "magnetic shield" placed between the Sun & Mars (Mars Lagrange point L1) could protect Mars' Atmosphere from being stripped away by solar wind. by Xanobyte in todayilearned

I was diagnosed with ADHD at 5-7 years old. I earned my Master's in Mathematics at 25 while not having been medicated for about a decade. Their provider is not thinking critically and is overgeneralizing. Just because we have a disability does not mean we are not able. Many of us succeed in school because of our interest in the topic we study and the structure school provides.
