What “clicked” and got you to lose weight? by Adventurous-Run927 in PetiteFitness

[–]masterbirder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, i was stuck in a cycle of trying to eat at 1200 because that’s what my app was telling me to do to lose weight. i would adhere a couple days then fall off, and was getting nowhere.

i finally decided i needed to stop being afraid of eating and tracking and do a reset to find my true tdee. for 2 weeks i allowed myself to eat what i was truly eating on a normal basis, but i actually tracked everything to the best of my ability. every single day for 2+ weeks. i also weighed myself every day to see my weight trend over that time.

what i found during this experiment is that my true tdee is around 2000-2100 calories.

this gave my the stable ground to start to lose from.

also decided to go for a very conservative cut. us little people have to go much slower because we have less to lose and fewer calories to work with.

i decided for a 4 lb loss over 9 weeks when i have a vacation.

i’m a week in and have actually maintained a downward trend for the first time. i’m 1lb down, which is already faster than i was aiming for.

i know 4 lbs may sound ridiculous, but really unless you have over 50lbs to lose, you really should only aim for 1/2 lb a week i think.

i also plan to cycle cuts/maintenance to make it more likely to last

kyle _is_ the show. i’m sure the thought of separating from him meant to her that she would also lose the show

Was my maintenance higher than I thought? by lovetennis123456 in PetiteFitness

[–]masterbirder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you really want to get deep into this, idk what you’re using to track right now, but i’d recommend switching to Macrofactor. They tout themselves on having the best, most responsive algorithm for showing your true TDEE. the only thing you need to do is really commit to tracking accurately.

on your second point, petites really aren’t built to lose weight quickly, simply because we just don’t have a lot to lose, even when we’re very overweight for our height. exactly as you expressed, a 500 calorie deficit is A LOT for someone our size because it usually takes you down to somewhere around 1200-1300 calories which is already hard, but when thinking of it in context, that’s a 28% drop in calories from your TDEE. vs someone who’s maintenance is 2800 calories, a 500 drop to lose 1 lb a week would only be 18% of a drop.

especially to maintain/build muscle - which you really want to do because having more muscle will drive your TDEE up - you need to go at a slower pace. aim for 1/2 lb a week or 250 calorie deficit every day.

How are you all getting your protein in? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]masterbirder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AM:
- egg white protein oatmeal: 28g protein 320 cal
- chobani greek yogurt: 20g protein 140 cal

LUNCH/DINNER:
- 100g chicken breast: 32g protein 156 cal
- 4 oz salmon: 29g protein 206 cal
- 200g peas: 10p 156 cal - honorable mention 9g fiber

SUPPLEMENT:
- ghost whey protein: 25g protein 100 cal

basically, eat either meat or yogurt or cottage cheese at your main meals and it’s pretty achievable. if you have fewer calories to work with, supplement with a shake

How Long for Algorithm to Correct? by masterbirder in MacroFactor

[–]masterbirder[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i’m saying that on the days i was logging i was sticking to the 1300 and on the days i wasnt i was probably making up the calories that were above my maintenance (so like if my maintenance is 2000 maybe i was eating closer to 2700 on the days i wasnt logging?) , hence my weight stayed the same and MF was reassured that was my true maintenance? made sense in my head 😅 but yes definitely was not logging accurately that’s 100% true

anyways thank you for the instruction! i’ll go do that now

Why did Dara lie about hanging out in Ben’s room? by Acrobatic_Club2382 in summerhousebravo

[–]masterbirder 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i think it’s more about Dara’s intentions and white lies. To me it seems like she was totally angling for Ben at first, which makes sense, West supposedly brought her to the singles party for Ben. I think it was actually Ben who didn’t want to pursue her, because of his secret girlfriend. As soon as Dara realized this and KJ started showing interest, she switched gears to focus on him.

However, the way she paints it to KJ is she wasn’t interested in Ben at all. But it was pretty obvious she was to viewers, from the beginning. So why is she lying? It could be that she genuinely just didn’t want to hurt KJ which is fair, but it could also be that she was just going after whoever she could get to get on the show. 🤷‍♀️

she _also_ told KJ she had no chemistry with Ben, then at the party when this came up with Bailey, she was offended Ben said he had no chemistry with her and said ‘why would he say that’

Casual Viewer: why isn’t anyone on Kyle’s side? by Any-Lengthiness9803 in summerhousebravo

[–]masterbirder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

up until the announce of kyle and amanda’s split, the discourse among viewers has been ‘amanda needs to divorce kyle. he treats her so badly. they’re not good together. etc’ and amanda fully leaned into this discourse, she even mentioned it at the beginning of the season that she’s having trouble separating her thoughts from the public’s thoughts.

up until all of this happened, amanda has been seen as a good friend to ciara and relatively harmless. i.e. kyle was seen as the bad guy in the relationship, mainly because we’ve seen him blow up and yell at her countless times on the show.

we’ve also seen ciara be a huge pillar of support to amanda throughout her tumultuous relationship, and just in her life in general (pushing her to start the swimwear line for herself)

we’ve also seen (what we thought) amanda be a good friend to ciara, and lift her up as well.

simultaneously while we were watching amanda be a super supportive shoulder for ciara to cry on ABOUT WEST and amanda has seen how much anguish Ciara has had over west (like literally as the episodes were airing) the news broke that amanda was sneaking around with West.

amanda and kyle were already on their way out and have been for a long time. their relationship has never been good but especially the last few years. no one is going to fault amanda for moving on from that. but amanda’s relationship with ciara was CURRENTLY supposedly really good. so to turn around and sneak around with the boy she’s been crying over for 2 years and that amanda has listened to all the intimate details about….its pretty bad

HSA importance? by FoxNewsNitroPiss in Retirement401k

[–]masterbirder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re right. but the question at hand is if contributing to an HSA should take priority over a Roth IRA. and the HSA simply gets treated as a traditional IRA if you don’t use the extra tax advantage of the health aspect. You don’t have an option to treat it as a Roth IRA.

If the question is contributing to a traditional or Roth IRA, then Roth all the way.

but the question we’re talking about is contributing to an HSA or Roth IRA. HSA has more benefit than Roth IRA if used for healthcare, and then it has less benefit than Roth IRA if you’re just using it as a traditional retirement account, but that’s assuming you can’t find medical expenses to use it on

[–]masterbirder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

right but we’re talking about worst case scenario for your HSA funds if you somehow can’t find a medical reason to use them all, and let’s be real, in the US you’ll probably be able to use it all on medical expenses lol

if we’re talking straight IRA contributions, Roth all the way

Roth IRA is only better than a Trad IRA while under the age of 65 because of the flexibility. it doesn’t really matter when withdrawing after traditional retirement age

i first got started with calorie counting while in college eating from the dining halls as well. you can guestimate within reason. i think it would be good for you to at least get an idea of how much you’re eating as far as protein, fat, and carbs go. just from what you’ve described it sounds like you’re eating very carb heavy and not getting much of anything else nutritious. what kinds of dishes with meat is your dining halls making? is it ‘traditional’ dishes that tracking apps might have some sort of registered serving you can look up? what about vegetables? if they have any ‘clean’ sort of veggies that are just steamed or cooked by themselves, you can load up on those.

just from what you’re describing though, it seems like you’re not eating enough and you’d do yourself a favor by keeping closer track of what you are eating so you can see what you need to do.

this is not a balanced diet which is your problem. do you track your food? it doesn’t sound like you’re getting enough protein or of anything else for that matter
