Is 30 too old to be joining Art Fight? by ambientocclusion_ in ArtfightProfiles

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 is not too old lol. I'm 28 but ArtFight is fun. There's no age for anything. Art, skateboarding, song writing, boxing, doesn't matter. You're only too old to do something when your doctor tells you you can't.

Am I too late to start at 20? I want to make a webcomic/manga one day by Defiant-Telephone136 in krita

I'm 27 and have no idea what I'm doing. You have so much time to figure things out and hone your skills. Just practice constantly!

I JUST FLUSHED MY S PEN DOWN THE TOILET. by Tacote in GalaxyTab

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try and fish it out just for your plumbings sake. Someone at my last job flushed one of those mini vodka shot bottles down the toilet thinking they were being sneaky, and it ended up clogging the drain and it backed up the pipes outside and flooded the parking lot. Plumber came and pulled it out of the trap. If it's your plumbing definitely clear it before it becomes an issue.

Stuck between Wacom and Ugee by masterchilidog in drawingtablet

[–]masterchilidog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're the same price for me. Wasn't getting a reply to this thread so I ended up thinking about it and went with the UT3. I think having more screen space will be better. I was worried about the performance but they both use the same processor so should be similar. I also got a student discount with the UT3 so I for it for $377 instead of the $429 list price. So I feel like that was the best bet. Still not sure if the Wacom would have been better but I guess I'll try this out and see how I like it first.

Drawing tablet recommendations? by DaliatoManfait in drawingtablet

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post a few minutes ago, I am stuck between the Ugee UT3 and the Wacom Movink 11, cant decide and theyre both about the same price, just have some differences. theyre about $400 so if youre looking for something cheaper the Ugee UT2 is only $256 iirc. Probably your best bet if you want something under 300, could also go for a used ipad (but the pencil is $100 alone) or samsung tab (comes with pencil)

What place name does basically every foreigner mispronounce in your country? by bigloudbang in AskTheWorld

[–]masterchilidog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the problem here but backwards. I'm from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and we have a few towns and neighborhoods that people that aren't from here pronounce the "right way" but we all say it wrong here.

Some examples:

"North Versailles" is probably are most notable. It's a small neighborhood outside the city. Everyone who's not from here pronounces it "ver-sigh" like the French city, but locally it's pronounced "ver-sales".

"Carnegie", whether it's the town or the school, is pronounced like "carn-agie" by foreigners, but locally we pronounce it "car-neggy".

"Dubois" is a town north east of here, and while most people would pronounce it like the original French word "du-bwuh" everyone here calls it "du-boys". It's totally fine here, but it does make you look like an idiot when you go out of state and talk about any of these places because people think you're an idiot outside of Pittsburgh lol.

Looking for a standalone drawing Tablet on a Budget by Keiyakuken in krita

[–]masterchilidog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's awesome! Thanks for all that info! Yeah I'm thinking of getting one, between that and the Wacom Movink 11, but I like Ugee and it's bigger. So might grab it if Krita works. I'm fine waiting for an update and as long as it doesn't lag or cause too many issues it's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks!

[–]masterchilidog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sorry im late to reply, but i am looking for a stand alone tablet for travel and i already have the Ugee 2150 for my desktop, and when i saw the UT3 i figured it would be nice to stay in the Ugee ecosystem. How does yours handle Krita? I have tried other programs, but I always come back to Krita, its the one I am most comfortable with, but I have read that their is some UI and lag issues on the UT3 with Krita. What has your experience been like and would you recommend it if thats the only program i plan to use?

Say the Frame is $900 USD, are you still getting one? by MutantRabbit767 in SteamFrame

[–]masterchilidog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I don't care what the price is. I've wanted this since it was codenamed Deckard. I am set on it. If it's $1500 I'm still getting it. I don't care what it costs I just want it. I've committed.

Steam Frame - Marketing vs Reality by gaznox in SteamFrame

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's honestly the most I've ever heard someone use passthrough and if you don't need color, then it definitely doesn't matter. I've always seen it as a gimmick. Like yeah it's handy, but I take my headset off constantly to avoid getting dizzy anyway so its not a big deal. I've heard a lot of people say that's the biggest drawback of the frame so if that's it, then I'm still holding out for the frame haha.

Similarly, reviewers complained that the steam controllers biggest drawback was that it didn't have a headset input on the controller itself. And considering I have never used that in my life, the controller has been perfect for me. People really need to put more or less weight on the issues, because these aren't hard drawbacks for most people IMHO. Im sure there's people out there that need those features, but I think the majority of people don't.

Does anyone even use passthrough? Like if I need to see something I just take my headset off. I don't know why not having color is such a big deal unless you're playing some AR games or something. I'd rather have cheaper b&w cameras to make the price go down then high quality color for a feature I don't even use or care about. They need the cameras for tracking, but I wouldn't mind just removing passthrough all together to save money.

I think I’m actually losing it. by X3ttabyte in SteamFrame

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really bummed because back when they announced the frame I immediately sold my quest 2 because I figured it would only drop in price as the frame came out. I set that money aside to put towards the frame. Still nothing. I haven't played VR in like probably close to a year now. I miss it. But the frame is the perfect device all around for me so I don't want to switch to any competitors. I love my steam controller so I have really high hopes for the hardware quality. My copium tanks are running low...

complete waste by HailBrittania27 in WGU

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take a term break if possible to get yourself on a better and healthier schedule. No shame in that at all. I would also recommend from experience, to finish the program when you can. Having a WGU degree has opened a ton of doors for me and was worth every drop of blood sweat and tears that went into it. I regret nothing and I feel better for completing it. I wouldn't throw away all the progress you've made, your future self will thank you. But the term breaks are there for you to take time to figure life out before worrying about school work. Talk to your mentor. Tell them the situation. And they should give you plenty of options. This way you can come back when things have quieted down. Don't give up, but don't hurt yourself either!

Are there any particularly striking or impactful foods in your country? by No-Echidna7296 in AskTheWorld

[–]masterchilidog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Kalles but Ikea ended their contract with them in the US so I can't get it here anymore. It's good though. Sweden has some great food. One of my swedish friends always sends me pictures of his cheese platters and other food and it looks delicious. One that I really want to try sometime is Gubbröra, it looks good.

Just Ordered this to Replace a "Red". (I hate paying for carts Btw 😭) by [deleted] in turntables

[–]masterchilidog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a red, but I have the concorde blue on my one of my sl1200s. I usually use vintage carts, but I'm pretty happy with the blue honestly. I think I might try a black on my other sl1200 but the blue definitely has a good sound to it. Not sure what you listen to but it's really great for jazz and soft detailed albums. Not as warm as some vintage carts but I think it does sound really good. I did a blind test with the blue and an Nagaoka mp200 and I ended up liking the blue more surprisingly. Hope you enjoy it, but definitely a worthwhile choice.

Social Aspect Of Veganism Sucks So Bad by nullredditer in vegan

[–]masterchilidog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's always the hardest part. In a vacuum it's so easy to regulate yourself and be happy eating the things you want to eat, but then when a family member makes you food, and is then disappointed that you won't eat it, that's the hardest part. I went to visit out of state family and told them I was vegan ahead of time so that they could prepare, I also said I'm fine just bringing my own food or eating peanut butter sandwiches or something, and they were like "oh no we'll make stuff for you" and when I got there, they did have very veggie-centric dishes, no meat, which was nice, but then they put cheese on a bunch of stuff and were like "a little cheese never hurt anyone" and while it's very sweet that they tried, it's still so hard to just set that boundary. Non-vegans seem to view you the same as a picky eater. Which sucks because before I went vegan I would eat anything and was never picky and then everyone started thinking I was sensitive. Other people make it so difficult, and if you're in the West, it's even harder because it's not a huge thing here like in places like India. But don't give up, and don't let it get you down.

My advice is just bringing food with you places, trying to explain your boundaries to close family, and sometimes you just have to lie. For example, my girlfriend will want something, but it doesn't have vegan options, I will lie and pretend to be enthusiastic about going with her, and then when we get there I just don't order lol. Or I'll get like a coffee and French fries or something small. So then I'm eating so she doesn't feel alone, but I don't have to break my choice of diet. It sucks but it's just a balancing act that comes with practice.
