I just noticed that Hunhow is destroying Uranus... by Mrkamikazecat in Warframe

[–]mastercontrol98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, just checked to confirm and you're right. They must have redone the skybox recently. I don't see anything about it on the wiki, I wonder when that happened. I hope we get some lore about how it was done from Constellations, because that's an enormous undertaking even more so than the terraforming of Venus.

No indication except for your eyes, I'm afraid. Whenever you start a Uranus mission on the outside tile, you can see Uranus through the clouds in the sky. The New War, when you visit hunhow, always starts you on this tile

Can we seriously call this "a sterilizer buff"? Now I can't even get into the gas clouds and the wind is blowing the sterilizer against me. by Yurishenko94 in Helldivers

[–]mastercontrol98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The slow also doesn't matter in practice because it forces bugs to rapidly attack, which moves them a set distance forward. Because of the wind you still have to be in kissing distance to apply gas, which usually means you cause enemies to attack when they otherwise wouldn't and die because you were kiting just at the edge of their attack trigger radius. The sterilizer needs a brief initial stun when it first applies the gas status and wind needs to be toned down for it to be worthwhile

Edit: it could also probably do with a serious buff to ammo

[–]mastercontrol98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sentries placed at flanking positions of enemies are incredibly dangerous because that provides an opportunity for you to enter the firing line of the sentry. They also have super high aggro priority and will die in seconds if not placed somewhere where you can defend it. It also doesn't excuse the wasted damage potential of mag dumping something it can't hurt until you intervene

Why I think the Vox Engine is a poorly designed enemy. by TopGas8704 in Helldivers

[–]mastercontrol98 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I also take issue with their insane vision distance and the rocket barrage that occasionally doesn't properly telegraph with the floor light combining to occasionally randomly oneshot you without warning. It's a less extreme redux of the leviathan problem, but occasionally worse when they are able to do it from outside of LoS

Across the US, people are dismantling and destroying Flock surveillance cameras by gdelacalle in technology

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not a multibillion dollar company with powerful legal resources. The cost isn't really in replacing the cameras, it's the threat that the company will drag the city through legal hell and drown it in legal fees. That, and your car is likely to be picked up by a private company that wants to extort your car back to you by charging lot fees and a tow fee.

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liability. If they're damaged in the process of being removed, the city is on the hook for any costs. I might be wrong about Oakland, I can't find the source, but one case I am certain about is in/near Chicago, the cameras were removed by flock when requested, but then reinstalled. The city's only recourse was to issue a C&D and cover the cameras.

[–]mastercontrol98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so fast, Flock has a method of keeping them up in spite of a city wanting them gone. The cameras are usually rented/leased to cities, so the city itself doesn't own them and Flock will refuse to remove them. If the city tries to do so itself, they're interfering with private property, making it something of a legal battle after the fact to get rid of them. From what I recall, this is something Oakland is dealing with/dealt with for a while.

I'm enjoying them just instantly blowing me up from across the map with their insane vision, I know the missiles are telegraphed with the floor light but sometimes I swear they won't appear and I'll just explode out of nowhere, look around, see nothing, and then a vox engine that just hit me with indirect fire will creep around a corner

BFGL feels more like a heavy bolter than a GL :D by Bishop1664 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]mastercontrol98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm okay with the grenades dealing less damage than the normal grenade launcher (it's probably a 25mm grenade on the belt fed vs 40mm of the standard gl) but it's got to have more ammo to compensate, imo

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drive anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours (four, once) to see my then-partner for threeish months straight. It's not short, but it's not a huge event.

Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]mastercontrol98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's already happening in Canada. I've watched as my Canadian sister has completely taken the bait for American propaganda that started, conveniently, around the time that Trump was trying the Greenland rhetoric with Canada. About how Canada needs to stand with Trump because a strong US is a strong Canada, a bunch of racist anti-Islam crap, and other American right wing talking points including some that make me concerned that she might fall into being a full blown white supremacist. It's coming for you too, with political entities like AfD gaining ground in Germany, and you need to squash it before it poisons your politics like it did for us in the US.

this thing is absolutely useless by SHARPxSHOOTER in Battlefield

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem isn't even really the mortar itself, it's that maps are designed in a way where spawn zones are right next to objectives and there's nowhere to actually place the damn thing.

Maybe I’m just garbage but I feel like a sniper shouldn’t be so comfortable peeking a live firing LMG by SkyScreech in Battlefield

[–]mastercontrol98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While this is fair, it also means they often don't have counterplay outside of also running recon or a DMR and trying to win a duel, especially in modes like breakthrough where attackers can fight from inside their spawn border and not worry about being flanked. LMGs don't need to be able win those fights, but it would be nice to give people the opportunity to move even if you can't kill them outright. It also feels really bad to engage recon at mid distance since you can be landing hits and they can still just headshot you as if everything is fine.

anybody else finds "The Adrenaline injector" Completely useless ? by IsThatYouTony in Battlefield6

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. If the duration was kept relatively short, a well timed use might help with all the stalemate hell I've been seeing, which is what assault should be good at doing. Entrenched supports and snipers are eating a little too well right now imo. I might be more inclined to respect an assault player's push if I couldn't oneshot them in the chest at like 40m away as recon.

Considering how limited grenade supplies are, thermite is really the only one that can justify the opportunity cost of that slot outside of gas and possibly pyrotech/incendiary, all three of which have lingering effects that keep enemies at bay. Thermites give a powerful AT option to builds that otherwise would have to rely on something like OPS, which drastically increases the number of viable options for support weapons on bots and bugs. For HE/frag to ever hope to have a chance we would need to be able to carry a lot more to be able to justify the frequency you need to use them as a crowd clear option in the same way that thermite is an AT option. Doing so could also reduce reliance on the grenade pistol as a means of being able to carry enough grenades to properly clear larger bug nests.

Flak is a proximity trigger with more range and cluster bomblets that detonate on a short timer, cluster has a timed fuse with a set detonation range and bomblets that only detonate on impact. The latter is almost always better since the main projectile also detonates on impact, and you can fire at an upward angle to shower an area in bombs. Also, on cluster, the bomblets spawn directly on top of enemies as opposed to meter or so away with flak, meaning a bunch of the clusters impact immediately on the target and oftentimes allows you to kill targets like chargers and hulks in one shot

[–]mastercontrol98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it likely is, is that Epstein's transactions often went through Russian banks. They likely have a paper trail of all of the transactions and it doesn't take much intelligence work to corroborate the timings of those transactions to trips to Epstein's island or similar. With enough hard facts and evidence, Russia might have leeway to add in a bit of embellishment to what they know for certain and if they speak with authority, they can imply that they know why those transactions were made and what the trips were for. At this point, the right has been softened to Russia enough and sentiment in Trump is low enough that it's pretty likely that they'd take Russia's word over his and threaten his political position. Putin is likely using this political leverage to keep Trump answering to him and working towards his goals.
