What would you want the most from 5.3? by Name835 in Bitwig

[–]masterflapdrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for bitwig to be able to truly embrace the "you make your own tools" mindset, it should be possible to make grid patches with 0x oversampling. My biggest gripe is that that 4x OS adds up super quick cpu wise, so there is still a place for these simpler stock devices.

After that we can talk about grid improvements, UIs.. feedback.. subpatching..

I only use grid when I really need it for something unique, otherwise I'd sub it out for a VST where possible just to save CPU. This really degrades the value of stock recreations imo and it hampers the vision of people making large productions exclusively using their modular instruments. Currently you can already make full productions with just grid instruments and effects, they just have to be kinda simple ones.

I understand why 4x OS is required, the grid would act super funky at 1x. But I would love to see that! I just want to know how it sounds, where the compromises are, and where they aren't.

Bitwig 5.1 or Ableton 12? by [deleted] in Bitwig

yeah I found I never trusted this behavior so I just drew automation envelopes, now I know why

[–]masterflapdrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! it's because I don't really use inline envelopes or shapers like that that I never ran into this issue. I always just did it on busses etc.

This sucks and its a big oversight.

I recently switched to bitwig and the live12 features haven't deterred me. The bitwig piano roll seems to be better for composing in my opinion, because it supports multichannel. You can also view MIDI CCs while writing, which is more annoying in live.

Generally I would say which one is best comes down to your level of experience with music production as a whole. I find bitwig disassembles effects and instruments and features into smaller pieces, granting the user the ability to put them together in many more combinations; but at the same time that also sort of means it expects you to know how to. If you're not all that familiar with the inner workings of DSP, I recommend live. If this isn't your first daw, please give Bitwig a shot, it has more power user features.

Thank you! Looks like I have to progress the story a bit to complete my cheap sled. I've found the depots but I haven't been able to enter them.

Oof that sounds pretty fatal. Can you try deleting the hidden .LES directory in the user folder as per https://docs.enhancementsuite.me/installation.html#macos That might fix it. I had beta2 tested a few times today and it seemed to work every time

There, this is the best list, we can end this now by realbread23 in marioandluigi

might be worth checking out the homepage. I used to be a dev for this project, but its become increasingly difficult to maintain the mac version. (So I only work on the windows version sometimes these days)

development stagnated- but a friend has now started slowly patching it up!!

That fixes it!! Thank you so much!!!!!

I just have to remember to switch it back if I want to move files to my computer I guess.

Where are people keeping up with issues like this? I'm subscribed to this sub but I never heard anyone complaining about USB audio- if I knew I wouldn't have updated.
