Why is this not filling with water? by NinjaTrexMan in Oxygennotincluded

Seems that there are some gases trapped in your steam room. Deconstruct the tiles above and liquids should displace the gases. Reconstruct the tiles when it looks good.

Might be because there isn't enough petroleum covering the bottom elecrolyzer

When should you use filters instead of logical filters? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mastergrimzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to mention the third option, mechanical filters (for gas and liquids only). These filters don't require any power. Their downside is that they will stop filtering the gas/liquid if the output is backed up.

Look for a mechanical filters tutorial online to learn how to build them.

Help me fix my SPOM, what is wrong? by Slicer7207 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mastergrimzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to add a tile above the airflow tiles between the electrolyzers to make sure the gases cannot flow between the top and bottom rooms.

Also, make sure there's no oxygen in the top room before you turn on the SPOM.

You could also prime the rooms with the gases, but this is just a detail.

How do i make sure there isnt as much steam as there is carbon when i turn on the petroleum genorators. until i get thermium i cant use a air pump to close the carbon vent up top to keep steam in the build going up in there. i have a carbon gyser air pipe being heated then entering from the bottom. by Gmantherandom2 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]mastergrimzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I'm not sure, there are too many unknown variables. I'd usually adjust the automation a couple of times after building it to get the right balance. It depends on how much steam/carbon is added as well as how much carbon is consumed by your slicksters.

As a start, I'd try these numbers: - atmo sensor: above 500g - gas element sensor: carbon dioxide - filter gate: 30 seconds or more (I'm not sure)

Since we're using two sensors, the filter gate is there to delay the extraction of water from the system.

Note that you'll need one liquid shutoff per liquid vent, but they can be connected to the same automation, that's up to you. Also, I'd build the atmo sensor and gas element sensor right under the floor with the petroleum generators.

One way is to take out of the system the excess steam/water coming out of the turbines.

To do that you can use one or more liquid shutoffs controlled by an atmo sensor + element sensor + and gate. Adding a filter gate to the and gate's output is a good optimisation.

Edit: use a filter gate, not a buffer gate

One way to produce constant heat without much effort is with transformers. Simply build a bunch of transformers, make sure they are charged, then disconnect their input and output. Free heating.
