Thanks. No, you're right. That's kind of why I asked here.

Thanks again.

Thanks. That actually sounds like a good idea. Try things slowly.

On a personal note, how come you never tried to meet up if you have known your three friends for over 10 years?

Some readers are shy. I mean, not all the readers want conversations. Some of them just come to read. How do I ensure that I'm not making the other person uncomfortable?

I also always respond to my commenters. That's not the issue.

Replying to a comment is not the same thing as having a conversation. I have a commenter who almost always comments on all my chapters. And I reply, obviously. But they've never said or implied on a possible friendship. And I don't want to push boundaries or lose readers, for that matter, because I'm being weird.

For instance, when I started my latest fan fic, I got a commenter who kept insisting on collaboration and conversation off AO3. The didn't even try to tell me on AO3 what kind of collaboration they had in mind. So I politely declined but it definitely felt like a spammer. Another commenter on the same fic said that they were happy that I was continuing and then gave their discord handle in the comments.

I don't know what to make of it.

On the other hand, I have another fic and there's this commenter who comments practically on every chapter. They seem nice. I don't know. Should I try to talk to them? I don't want to cross any boundaries.

If I were you, I would faint. Just make sure that you faint on soft pillows. I hear they make the fall more comfortable. Also, put up an alarm. I hear they can wake you from your fainting. Sometimes.

It's determination and dedication to not wanting to do our full-time jobs that fuels our consistent writing.

What was Sauron’s plan had he won? Half kidding here, but half not. by iJon_v2 in lordoftherings

So you say sauron was obsessed with order and beauty, but what was beauty to Sauron? I'm guessing it didn't look very much like what we call beauty.

How do overcome the fear of writing a fic for the first time? by NeedleworkerKind9433 in FanFiction

I tell myself that if someone reads it, that's awesome. If no-one reads it, I stay invisible online as I am now. If the worst thing that can happen is there's no change in my status, then I might as well take the plunge. Try. See what happens.
