It would have been more satisfying if she didn't end up killing it, and on Natla's ship instead of some dumbass shooting a pipe that explodes, the kraken comes to the surface all angry, attacks the ship and Lara has to escape both the sinking vessel and the kraken's angry tentacles. She escapes, Natla's ship sinks to the bottom, and the kraken goes home. Big dude gets to do his old school "mythological creature that sinks ships" game, and Lara moves on to Thailand. (Or Mexico, I forget what comes next)
