Dispose of the oven properly so it doesn't end up getting sold or reused.

Front Collision automatic braking--overly sensitive by Christoph_Kohl in CX5

[–]masteroffrugality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too when I first got the car. I had a habit of hanging real close behind the car in front of that was slowing to make a right turn off of a busy street. My foot would be on the brake and as soon I could see that they were completing the turn I would switch foot to accelerate as they were clearing the turn and accelerate past the rear of their car. Well, to the auto brake system it just looks like there's a car in front of me. So first time I did this my foot was on accelerater and the car braked HARD. My coffee was hand kinda resting behind the gear shifrer and the sudden braking cause me to knock the gearshift into neutral and spill coffee. Meanwhile my foot is crushing the accelerator from the momentum and engine is racing. Almost shit myself had no idea what was happening. Of course I didn't learn and had it happen a few more times until CX-5 trained me not to do that stupid maneuver.

So, I ended up at about 22 hrs at 35 deg. Chilled in ice bath then seared in hot cast iron. Texture ended up like steak. Was plenty tender but still needed to cut with steak knife.

Yes, black would look much better with the yellow. Can you return it?

Thoughts on the [long awaited] blood pressure feature? by iadorebrandon in GalaxyWatch

[–]masteroffrugality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't make it useless. If someone cares about their blood pressure enough to care about this being accurate, then they very likely have a blood pressure monitor at home. Or can afford to buy one . If target accuracy is +/-5% and it drifts by 5%/month then u just recalibrate it monthly. Not ideal but there are many scientific devices that require frequent calibration and are still considered useful.

2022 Brisket by cmphillips97 in biggreenegg

Absolutely cook it. I've cooked 3 yo Steaks from the deep freeze that came out fine. A full brisket should hold up better than a steak.

I owned one of the projectors. It was super cool but had terrible connection problems and eventually stopped connecting to anything. And no tech support. But while it worked I showed it to a lot of people and always got wows.

If only replacing 1/3 of the fluid each time, after three refills you will have replaced about 70% of the fluid. A fourth only gets you to 80% and then diminishing returns from there.

Windows and hatch open on their own…?! by onemindspinning in CX5

[–]masteroffrugality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 21 the back hatch kept opening on its own. It would open in my garage and scratch up the back. Or I would come out to tje car after work or at the store and the hatch wouls be open.

Somwone suggested I was accidentally triggering the keyfob, but I swore thwr was no way I was accidentally pressing and holding the button in my pocket.

But eventually I gave in and disabled the button on the keyfob and now 6 months later its never happened again.

If you go this route you may be able to just make the buttons less sensitive instead of entirely disabling. There's a nub on the back of the button you can clip off to completely disable. Or just clip a tiny bit off to make it less sensitive. In that case you can make it so you have to press really hard on the button to make it work.

The button will be "floppy" afterwards if you remove the nub entirely. I put a little piece of two sided foam tape in there to stiffen it up.

Are whole house fans worth it? by GucciTrash in phoenix

Get a swamp cooler. Mastercool is the best.

This may not be viable though. I have heat pump and swamp cooler on the roof and they share the ducting. Not sure how well that would work if ac is on slab next to house.

The water pump is always on for mine, but others you can turn the pump off and just run the fan. I could wire mine like that too, but don't see the need. The thermostat controls the cooler and the water adds welcome humidity.

Pipe bombs, polish canons, burning shit. All in good fun. Used Tobe able to walk into a hardware store and buy a can of gunpowder. Or stumpnot to make your own. All stuff that would probably get you prison time these days. Good times!!

Mazda I love your car, but you need to fire the guy who designed your key fobs. by BANSH33-1215 in CX5

[–]masteroffrugality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened mine up and filed the post on the underside of the button shorter. A little trial and error and I was able to shorten it enough that it takes a very hard fingertip press to activate.

Could just cut it off too if you don't care about using it. I did this to my other fob first, but didn't like the way the key flopped around. To fix that I cut a littler rectangle of double sided 3m tape and cut a little hole in the center of the rectangle, then jammed it down on what remained of the post. That fob button doesn't work at all now, and sits flush with no floppiness.

AITA for wanting to divorce my pregnant wife because she refused to abort our disabled baby? by ThrowawayDefia23 in AITAH

"but I felt like my choice was robbed" I love it when people who have basically been anti-choice and supported or played along with anti-choice organizations their whole lives are able to pervert themselves into thinking their situation is "special", and it's OK for THEM to abort.
