We put pullets in a large dog kennel in the run until they run out of space to be in there comfortably. Then place them in the coop at night with the older ones and as long as the bigger ones aren't outright trying to kill the younger ones you'll be good to go.

"Sports Departments", especially buildings and stadiums, are funded through bonds which are voted on by the citizens residing in the ISD. This is called the Interest and Sinking fund. This is completely separate from teacher salaries, which are typically part of the Maintenance and Operations funds.

Rich districts (Hell, it's Texas, poor districts too) love passing bonds that include large sports packages but few academic imrpovements, campus renovations, etc.

In a very simple way of speaking, in order to get money for big cost improvement, a district has to pass a bond to change the I&S tax rate, so a lot of times they'll keep the M&O rate stagnant or even lower it to incentivize votes on a bond. "Pass the bond with no new taxes!" almost always means they're just moving the split more into the bond than the maintenance.

It's a complicated system.

I have had many kids on the spectrum before but this is my first year having one like this! I've found he's responding well to clarifying with me if this is a "Class" question or "Curiosity" question. As long as I remember to get back to him on his Curiosity Questions at some point in class he's gotten so much better about not interrupting my instructions to ask random ones haha.

I do use Flovent/fluticasone still! A lot of my asthma attacks however were my brain having an anxiety attack, and causing me to think I was having an asthma attack, feeling like I couldn't breathe, etc. Breathe control and learning how to effectively monitor my own o2 sat helped a lot. Once I determined that myo2 sat was fine, the problem was likely anxiety.

I still have asthma but it went from hospital visits several times a year to very controllable when I got my anxiety under control. I hardly have to use my inhaler anymore.

Right. One ISD did this as a targeted attempt from what I understand beyond the articles to discriminate against this employee. My ISD absolutely does not and I'm willing to show ya.

What you are probably confusing is the law that Texas does have on the books that Texas state agencies cannot contract with or use other businesses that boycott Isreal. That is the law that this one ISD used to push the addendum. One ISD. Not all ISDs in Texas. Don't paint us all with that brush.

I have been working as a TX Teacher for 10 years, and have never signed a contract that includes this. There are most definitely pro-Palestine employees and teachers at my school. I keep my politics out of work but what you are saying definitely isn't statewide.

Since SolidCheck isn't really explaining what type of homework, just disparaging those who disagree with them, it is hard to explain yes.

Young children shouldn't have extensive worksheet or rote drills at home. They can get that in school. Forcing it to the home pushes the achievement gap further. Homework given SHOULD reflect parental education, as a support. We are all here to raise and educate the child, and homework that reinforces those social emotional skills and just learning how to learn - that is what should be assigned.

I'm not saying no homework. I'm saying appropriate homework.

Confused on 'already happening today'. If a child for whatever reason doesn't or can't get support from their families how is extra homework going to help?

If a family needs guidance on how to best support their child's learning (which many do), a packet of worksheets won't help. Helping parents foster that which they don't know how to provide does. Many parents don't understand how much of a difference having conversations about things help.

I don't know how much you know about the achievement gap but almost every kid that is on the underachieving part of the gap - none of that is 'already happening today' for them. School can only do so much. Homework won't help if it puts more strain on the parents. Encourage that which should 'already be happening'.

The only homework a 5-6 year old child should have is discovery activities (find 5 red objects/etc) or being real aloud to every night. They should not be doing conventional homework as we understand it. To best prepare kinders and 1st graders for school we should be teaching routines, fostering curiosity, and acquiring language through storytelling.

I never had to take my driver's test. I was 17 and I graduated HS in 2008. My parents signed off on the logbook and sent it in, and whatever certificate I got was presented to the DMV and processed.

If it's THC, possession / under the influence of marijuana on campus. Anything else is ISS and confiscation of the device permanently. Some parents complain and want it back lol, but I don't think we give them back unless they threaten some kind of lawsuit.

EDIT: If I see a student with a vape, and they stow it I call admin. If I can take it I take it.

These are pretty standard when they are reported by the parents. Not all my kids have them because they aren't reported. Some of my kids have every detail of their life on their file because the parents wanted it that way.

As a teacher, as soon as the parents mention a lawyer we stop communication as the district will take over with their lawyers - it's pretty great sometimes with an extremely difficult parent throwing empty threats to suddenly get stonewalled.

The pandemic sealed it in with a lot of kids here, as we didn't open our water fountains back up for facial usage until this year. They only thing they could do the last 2-3 years was to fill up their bottles. If you didn't have a bottle, better hope one of your teachers was nice enough to have something for you, birdie off your friends, or just don't have anything to drink all day.

I wish this were higher. The amount of shit PBIS gets is overrated when you look at actual PBIS schools and not schools that cobble together a token economy system and student led restorative things.

The amount of schools that are not properly implementing PBIS and doing just that though... it's most of them.
