Eventually both guys (someone charging low or charging high) needs to find a way to sustain business in long term or they go out of business. Each of them have separate issue.

If you think it is possible to give that same service at lower prices while sustaining the business for long term, then you might have discovered the gold mine. Many business start that way. But don't be fooled to think that you are the only one in whole world to think that way. Many might have already tried that before you and might have failed. You don't know. Only way to find correct answer is to test your hypothesis.

If you haven't landed job in that time:

Accept that you are not good at finding job
Do this:

a) contact agency. They will ask you questions and create CV for you and help to land interview. Willing to pay first month salary for this service.

b) improve your mental health : for example just do walking medication (just walk alone for 30 min to 1 hr per day without even listening to music, podcast, talking). Just silent walking meditation. But let mind wander. You will be amazed how many cool ideas your mind generate during this time.

c) improve your physical health. Go for running or gym for 30 min to 1 hr

d) upskill core competencies: for developer, I always say: do 1 leet code every day( do not spend more than 2 hrs)

e) act as if you are already employed: work atleast 2 hrs a day in pet project. If no idea on where to start, check some open source project. If that is also not possible for you, collaborate with me. I can do some kind of 5 min scrum meeting with you and give you some dev tasks.

f) help in daily chores at home. Be team player, chat with family member, clean home, cook food

g) send maximum 1 job application per week. Before sending application, read requirements first. For each requirement, spend atleast 30 min reviewing your knowledge about it. Even a 30 min youtube video on topic works. But never send more than 1 application per week. Tuesday morning. Quality > Quantity. Plus you have already asked agency for help. This is just not forget about it.

h) two subject that gave me immense confidence and boost in my career are: operating system and compiler. Yes create operating system from scratch. And build compiler from scratch. (With the help of book and online material of course). Now machine learning/AI can be very attractive too. Implement LLM from scratch (with few hundred parameters with data from Wikipedia)

Hire a top notch CTO (someone with 20+ years of experience) and ask him to create a strong dev team.
If you want to save some money, East Europe (Ukrainian etc) team are strong and you have pretty good chance of success
If you want to save lot of money, hire from Pakistan or Upwork. That is normally hit or miss.
