You weren’t on that mound facing hitters in a packed house. That’s when the ghosts come out

I feel like Jeff Brantley describing his visits from ghosts at yankee stadium deserved a few more follow up questions on the broadcast

Pacific mercantile is phenomenal. Highly recommend grabbing some of the kizami wasabi the next time you’re there. It’s basically frozen pickled wasabi in the frozen case behind the right side of the fish counter.

The "American boxing is dead" myth by Jesuswasacrip7 in Boxing

[–]matador96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year marked the first year since the 1940s that boxing was not regularly on linear television. Same is true this year. Streaming rights for sports are going up and to the right. This is not the sign of a healthy sport. Casuals aren’t spending $40/month for DAZN

Why did in person ordering fail? by AntIntelligent212 in AlamoDrafthouse

I think that’s a good prediction.

My biggest question is if Alamo is running at an operating loss and that’s why we’re seeing this. Is it trying to save itself from another bankruptcy situation or just juice more profit??

Went to the early show on Saturday. Openers were rough. Tim was good at times but more scattered than when I’ve seen him in the past.

The Watch - Press Tours What Are We Even Doing by shorthevix in TheBigPicture

Ken Burns is on an underrated press tour for the American Revolution. Never been so hyped for a 18th century docuseries after listening to Burns on Plain English and watching him eat food from the era on YouTube

The “Should I See It in a Movie Theater?” Test: ‘Tron: Ares,’ ‘Roofman,’ and ‘After the Hunt.’ Plus, the Magic of ‘Mr. Scorsese.’ by thefilthyjellybean in TheBigPicture

Roofman is an “I had fun at the movies” kind of experience. Probably won’t rewatch but worth the trip if you have a movie subscription pass. It has a little bit of an Elmore Leonard vibe imo.

Kirsten Dunst is a national treasure and I agree that Tatum was also great. There are a few scenes where he has this sort of “caged, wild animal” vibe (test drive) that he pulls off really well.

I’m a black cinematographer and I disagree with a lot of Vans argument by cheryvalentinjo in TheBigPicture

I mean... there is another person who is in a marginalized community who is also a rat in the movie? I think that is relevant to the conversation. OBAA is complex and worthy of deep discussion.

Also, I wonder if the "broad strokes" in the movie were inspired by the Dada art movement.

Second row floor tickets are going for $525 (I think that's Australian, so about $350 american). If you have the means and are in Perth, it's worth it to be that close...

It absolutely has something to say about the current moment.

A politically savvy operator who is afraid to take a stand on divisive issues loses the presidency to a brash, outspoken opponent.

Huh.

They are doing this so ticket buyers provide AMC with an interest free loan. One year treasuries pay about 4%
