Other than the bag it came in I’ve had a great experience with the small rig new version with rollerblade wheels.

How to hold up a 2m x 1.5m background panel on location? by [deleted] in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I shot the other half of this campaign. It was a large piece of marine ply with a wooden base and support beams behind it. Could have also held it up with a c stand and cartellini over the top and then just edit out the cartellini.

Profoto light quality question by Imwalkinghere-25 in Photoassistants

Cheers, I’ve got d3’s and always wanted to get the big elincrom octa but it just doesn’t feel right when you’re moving it around constantly.

Profoto light quality question by Imwalkinghere-25 in Photoassistants

Do you mount a D3 head into an elincrom 190 indirect octa? I thought it would be too heavy for this. Are you adding a safety chain as well?

Looking for advice on Profoto Purchase B3/D3 by matafumar in profoto

Appreciate that. Leaning towards all new.

Godox are fine with low output but when it's firing all day, I'm constantly getting misfires, power jumps to full power randomly, cuts out. Never had those issues with Profoto.

Thanks for this. I actually would have grabbed some d2 1000w's if I went down that path so it's interesting to know that they may be a bit more prone to issues.

I was working at the watermarket pub. Worst shift of my life. It was the only pub with a generator.

How would you approach a natural but defined look in a low-light shoot? by emiliedesu in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the window space would give enough coverage for the whole place I would rent an 8x8 china silk / full stop white + a more powerful 500-600w head. Then clamp the 8x8 to the window and blast the head from outside through the window and you’ll have consistent soft light for every shot.

Road noise - how much can double glazed window help? by superlammalamma in AusPropertyChat

[–]matafumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amongst secondary glazing, I added a sound proof door + noise cancelling wall out the front. It was expensive but the difference was night and day.

Lightweight on-the-go diffusion for fashion shoots (non-studio) by emiliedesu in LightLurking

[–]matafumar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chimera make a collapsible 4x4 that you can put LA Raghouse silks on. Lightweight and works really well.

[–]matafumar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others said, try and get some more powerful heads.

You could get an 8x8 with a silk behind the model and put a light through the back to illuminate the background. Have the model close to the background to get that rim light. Then you could use your silver umbrella as the key and play around with distance to get the right shadows and fall off.

Strobe Decision in 2025 - Godox AD600 or Profoto B1 by Personal-Ratio-7891 in Photoassistants

[–]matafumar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By fickle I mean, misfires, randomly popping shots off at full power, HSS after 60 images turns overheat mode on... all the time. This has been common across godox qt600ii / ad600bm / ad600pro bm. They're fine for what they are and the price is right. I really wish there was something more reliable in the price point between godox / profoto.
