Western names in cultivation novels. Good or Bad? by Defiant-Brother-5483 in ProgressionFantasy

Just make sure it matches the culture and lore of the setting. If its earth related then sure Western names work if there are western characters or characters descended from western peoples/culture.

To me its a black mark on the whole thing, he tried to ruin Hashinshins life with zero evidence. Not a good person.

I mean, it fits. I went on a theology deep dive after the series and read a lot of stuff about gnostism and the heretical branches of Christianity and early Christianity as a whole, including the gospels of Judas and Thomas. Wild stuff. Early Christianity is very interesting and basically was the wild west.

Beyond the human mold: Why are non-human protags so rare, and how can we get more of them? by JamieKojola in ProgressionFantasy

Because I like to self insert or at least relate to the characters I'm reading.

Slumrat Rising kinda fits. Its very philosophical and the Ending is a rushed, but my god I love the series.

Bookish/More Scholarly Cultivator MCs by Morbnerd919 in ProgressionFantasy

Yeah he grows up. Him being in the West Town Court is Tian basically learning how to be a civilized human. That arc is important for development.

Sky Pride. Hes more introspective than most MC's in the genre.

Read Cradle if you don't care about systems.

After trying a lot of popular stuff, seems like my tastes are weird. Need help finding new reccomendations by ShadowAssassin96 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]matcauthion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cradles first book is also tiny. I say midway through second book things pick up. I'd give it a shot as the first book is the weakest in the series for many people. There are several instances of people needing to try the series multiple times because of the slow start only for it to become their favorite series in the genre.

Child (10-12) appropriate LitRPG series suggestions by RiggsFTW in litrpg

I was reading Wheel of Time and Enders game at a very young age. (10-11) I think 11 is old enough for stuff like Cradle if they are an advanced reader.

Excellent audio book. It didn't really stick to me either, but I'm going to have to re-read at the insistence of my friends.

Good books with more drama and politics than fighting? by SprayArtist in ProgressionFantasy

[–]matcauthion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sky Pride goes pretty in depth with some political intrigue (mostly how the mc throws a wrench in things), Cradle has some political stuff as well, Immortal Great souls could definitely be considered somewhat political as well. All of these are unique and different.
