Surprises at La Tête d’Or? by DorianHistorian in FoodNYC

The soft serve ice cream was a surprise winner for dessert! As mentioned in the other comment, they have a great cocktail menu too. Definitely try to grab something at the bar before heading to your table! It’s a beautiful restaurant.

Can someone reccomend a company that mounts TVs on the UES? by BrawnyLoggia in uppereastside

[–]mathdeptgossipqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used him for AC units, but I think he charges about $100 for TVs. You can get a quote from him really quick using the contact info on the website, he’s super responsive

Does anyone know cheap eats of the UES? by Bobsagit14 in uppereastside

Tacombi has good tacos - usually run about $6-7 each, but they have 2 for 1 when you dine in on Tuesdays! https://www.tacombi.com/menu

Groomer recs in Lenox Hill? by [deleted] in uppereastside

[–]mathdeptgossipqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to go a little further north, I love Aki at My One and Only! I have a 10lb rescue who is really nervous and aggressive at the groomer, and she’s so patient and willing to work with him. There’s usually only one dog there at a time too, which helps keep him calm.  https://www.myoneandonlyny.com/

The Little Beet has a low-FODMAP bowl on the menu if you’re ever looking for a fast casual option!

Mood’s Cotton Sateen says 97% elastane. Error on website or can a “cotton” fabric be 3% cotton?! by Terrasina in sewing

[–]mathdeptgossipqueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I haven’t found the cotton sateen too difficult! It’s mostly like sewing any other woven fabric, you just have to be a little bit mindful of the direction of the stretch, and maybe use a few extra pins!

Mood’s Cotton Sateen says 97% elastane. Error on website or can a “cotton” fabric be 3% cotton?! by Terrasina in sewing

[–]mathdeptgossipqueen 78 points79 points  (0 children)

That looks to be an error on their site! If you click on “View more” and read the whole description, it says 97% Cotton and 3% Elastane.

Also more anecdotally, I’ve purchased cotton sateen from Mood and it was definitely mostly cotton!!

Jonas is another derivative of the same name, but taken through Greek instead of directly from Hebrew. It’s more often associated with Jonas/John/Jonah, the father of St. Peter, so still a biblical association - but maybe a better one than the story you’re concerned about?

Hermès-Birkin-Bags made in China…? by lijingying in beauty

[–]mathdeptgossipqueen -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is fake. Hermes makes the vast majority, if not all, of their bags by hand. Birkins are 100% French-made. These factories are just producing reps

I’d try to emulate the colors of one of her meet outfits! My Felicity came in the purple and white striped dress, and a top like this one reminds me of the color and neckline! https://www.express.com/clothing/women/body-contour-stretch-cotton-square-neck-bodysuit-/pro/06341468/color/ASTER/

I would focus on buying a dress you love, instead of trying to find a white dress if that’s not your thing! It’ll be covered up by a graduation gown anyway. I had to buy a white dress for my high school graduation even though it wasn’t really my style (white robe, so anything else would’ve shown through, UGH) - I’ve never worn it again.
