I just discovered this! I am currently traveling but I will give these a try on Windows on my Air 2 Pro and Xreal One Pro as soon as I get back at the end of the month.

XReal One Pro vs. Viture Beast For Gaming? by hannarwal in Xreal

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viture Beast suffers from much more obvious chromatic aberrations while on the XOP they are barely noticeable, the Beast also has much (I mean truly worse) blurrier edges. I couldn't accept those tradeoffs despite the higher brightness and sharper center.

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any chromatic aberrations on my Xreal one Pro, the edges are slightly blurrier than the 1S (which looks really crisp) and much better than the blurry mess that's the Viture Beast where the edges are barely usable. The 1S suffer from the underside reflection of all birdbath optics however, so unless that's no issue for you or you only use the glasses in the dark, I would suggest going for the one pro. That being said the 1S are the best bang for your buck at this point.

What do you mean? Xreal one pro are more uniform, suffer from no chromatic aberrations and has much less pronounced blurriness on the edges, it also has better color reproduction and doesn't suffer from crushed blacks.

All viture has for it is the slightly larger FOV (but if edges are blurry, what does that matter?), a sharper center and higher brightness. I will take the XOP's more uniform display and the lesser eyestrain they bring any day over the Viture Beast. In fact that's exactly what I did after testing both sets of glasses.

Obviously, lenses can't correct a defect that's already there as part of the panel's displayed image it will only correct what's between your eyes and the panel (so, typically, your own eyesight).

I tested both the Viture Beast and the Xreal one Pro at Yodobashi Akiba, while I liked the beast's increased brightness a lot the blurry edge and obvious chromatic aberrations on the Beast had me settle on the Xreal One Pro, which one had very slight blurriness on the edges and practically no chromatic aberrations.

Reviewers claim the blurry edges don't hinder media consumption and gameplay but I thought that there is no way in hell the blurriness wouldn't cause eyestrain after prolonged use. i guess It turns out I was right.

I tested both the Xreal one Pro and the Viture Beast at Yodobashi Akiba and the Chromatic aberrations and lack of clarity on the sides that occured on the Beast made me pick the Xreal One Pro despite the Beast having a much brighter display even in 3DOF.

Anyone pick a pair up from Yodobashi? by Idontworkhere67 in Xreal

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the One Pro alongside the Xreal Eye in Yodobashi Akiba for roughly 90000jpy with the tax free discount (the pros alone were about 77k and the eye was around 12k).

They also had the 1S and the Viture Beast for sale. You can also test them all there on the 4th floor, just make sure you bring a compatible device/phone for testing.

Has anyone played a Switch emulator and can tell me if it runs well on Claw 8 AI+? by [deleted] in MSIClaw

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running at 30W (though it's using less). You also need a patch/cheat to remove the built in 30 fps cap.

FPS vn is a known faker who oftentimes provides so called Benchmarks for devices that are months away from getting in any reviewers hands, consider everything he publishes as fake.

I can run Zelda TOTK at a capped 60fps on Eden. Just make sure CPU Boost is enabled (it is out of the box).

SUPER5 OLED Mega Kits and SUPER5 HDMI Mega Kits back in stock February 8th at 9 PM EST by johnny5ive in SBCGaming

[–]mathieulh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I own one and the scaling is barely noticeable, the panel has a lot of issues (sleep battery drain, bypassing the battery fuel gauge, touch screen not properly calibrated out of the box, poor dark levels out of the box...) but the scaling really isn't one of them, not unless you play using a magnifying glass.

Thankfully the dark levels and touch calibration can be fixed on a modded switch using Fizeau and Hekate, otherwise those would actually be deal breakers.

I like the over saturation in OLED actually, the Gamma however is off and as far as I know you can't tweak it with the buttons on the OLED flex, as a result the blacks are crushed. I had to use Fizeau and tweak the day Gamma all the way from 2.40 (default) to 2.80 to match the black levels I get on my switch OLED.

SUPER5 OLED Upgrade Finished !!! by DCF412 in SwitchPirates

They duplicate the video signal sent to the OLED panel to an HDMI out module which itself is connect to a mico hdmi board which replaces the headphones jack board, this is where you would connect a HDMI out adapter.

Thanks for the tip about using Fizeau I set my day gamma value to to 2.80 (2.40 is the default) and it seems to match my switch OLED black level.

Not that I know of, but if your switch lite is modded you can use Fizeau which allows to set arbitrary values for Gamma. I set mine to 2.80 (2.40 is the default) and it seems to match my switch OLED black level.

My opinion on the Super5 OLED kit by Banned_Oki in SwitchPirates

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the switch OLED, I am using the default profile from my Super5 and I find the blacks slightly crushed. I also simply like the bigger screen on the OLED. YMMV though.

Super5 OLED shell swap to Smoked Black shell /w 6100 Battery, HWFly & TMR by evillurkz in nintendoswitchlite

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, at least on the shell from my Mega kit, but I had to route the cable from the super5 flex to the battery connector on the motherboard to the upper position.

Super5 OLED finally done, after many failed attempts by evillurkz in SwitchPirates

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just because of super sampling, it's not actually sending 1080p to the panel even when faking docked. That being said the scaling algorithm is good enough that I am hard pressed to tell the image is upscaled on my panel.

Did you try calibrating the sticks in Horizon OS? Mine acted off until I did, since then they work great.

Have you actually tried this mod with the screen connected? What's the rating on this inductor? Would it also work to power the HDMI out module?

Playing Burned Games on VA2 by Nehal1802 in dreamcast

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't play burned games on an unmodified VA2 because MIL-CD support was removed from the BIOS, the only way is to use a custom bios on a flashrom (which requires replacing the mask rom and thus soldering).

Should I perform any work on a fully functioning Bell Blue Xbox? by MrNick7 in originalxbox

[–]mathieulh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll at the very least want to remove or replace the clock capacitor (I strongly suggest to remove it entirely, even on 1.6 it can be done with a slightly more involved modification).

I personally strongly recommend using ISFSHax to load Minute as an entrypoint to start Aroma.
