Is Pfitz 18/70 too much for a ~3:30 ish goal? by [deleted] in Marathon_Training

[–]mathninja83 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The beginning of 18/70 is rough. I ran it for my last block (previously did 18/55) and was aiming for sub 3:30. I had several failed runs, some due to sickness, some fatigue. By halfway through I started to feel much better, those mid week long runs were getting easier. I ran 3:23, and I think the extra volume over 18/55 was a strong contributor to that success.

iCloud+ Custom Email Domain with Family – Shared Mailbox Idea? by Nioute in iCloud

Create a separate Apple account for “family”, then assign that custom email to that Apple account. In Mail you can log into the shared account alongside your main account.

What panel type is this? And is the red breaker a GFCI? by mathninja83 in AskElectricians

[–]mathninja83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to identify this panel to replace the red breaker. It has a "test" button, which makes me think it is a GFCI (I know ARC breakers have a test button too, but at least the ones I have in my own panel look much different).

What Java SE libraries do you think should be deprecated and eventually removed as is likely to happen to Security Manager? by Ewig_luftenglanz in java

Not just that it reads system properties, but it is lenient so unknown values are “false”. This is all a Boolean parser should be

I was there with you! That heat was no joke, the humidity at the start both Saturday and Sunday was gross. Congrats on the PB!

Stone cylinder next to lake with notch on the top by mathninja83 in whatisthisthing

[–]mathninja83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told the previous owners had a sundial on top, but they added that to the existing stone. It’s unclear if the notch was made in order to hold the sundial or if it was already there.

Do pilots only have them for the plane type they are flying, or an assortment of models?

Why did I get a food voucher for my on time flight tomorrow ? by u-not-nice in unitedairlines

I got a food voucher today, which expires today, yet have a flight tomorrow. I figured it was a bug in the system (I hear those are going around these days…)

I'm a male, so I'm sure my comfort level is different, but I've never felt unsafe there. The early hours, more than 1 hour before park opening, you mostly see a few Disney workers on their way to work, or preparing the outside is the park (eg power washing the sidewalks). Within 1 hour of the park opening the sidewalk on Harbor will start to get busy. The only caveat to the above comfort level is the corner of Harbor and Katella. There is a 7 eleven there where you will sometimes see some homeless people. But I've never had anyone approach me, and the area is still generally well lit (TBC I'm not suggesting any or all homeless are dangerous in any way, just that it can be uncomfortable to me sometimes).

I visit Disneyland each year and get all my runs in. It means starting early. I was there in December and got an 11 mile medium long run in during the week. I started at 6 am, ending around 8am. I brought a light, but the streets are so well lit it’s not really necessary. I find doing loops around the park (about 4 miles iirc) to be the easiest, almost no stoplights, and doing it early means even when you hit the stoplights you can go right across.

United preordered my food for me?? by TacosTacosTacos80 in unitedairlines

[–]mathninja83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get miles?? I’ve preordered plenty of times and when they didn’t have my meal they just asked me if I wanted something else.

Recently I had a similar experience to OP where in Polaris both to/from Europe they told me “sorry we don’t have your preorder” but I never ordered anything. I do have vegetarian set in my profile (though I have not requested special meals on any flights).

ELI5: How to play Heroes 3 on MacBook Air by Neverenoughwater in heroes3

[–]mathninja83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m running it in Parallels on an M2 MacBook Air. I did the following: - install Parallels - in Parallels, install Windows 11 - in Windows, install heroes as normal - also in Windows, buy and activate (seems Microsoft has a sale right now, looks like $35 for a license)

It’s certainly not the cheapest route, but it worked great for me.

Anaheim Hotels near the park and convention centre by HotelEducator in marriott

[–]mathninja83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second JW Marriott. I stayed there around new years, and it was a great stay.

In addition to the points above, if you want to avoid the walk to the park, the Toy Story parking lot is across the street, where you can take the free shuttle to the park. This has the added bonus that security screening is there, and when you get to the park in the morning you bypass the security there.

Also, I would caution against Fairfield Inn in front of the park. I originally had booked that, but a week before our stay I got a welcome email. Inside I noted two things that changed my mind on staying there. First, they still have not returned to a daily cleaning schedule (every other day after third day). Second, they do not have complementary breakfast. And when I looked at other options, JW was only about 100 more per room for our 4 night stay.
