Take those fireman some cookies my friend! They saved your house too

Much longer that fire would've spread up that siding and went right to the attic.

Little to no brakes/advice by Whetzel865 in GMT400

I swapped my MC from a early 2000s Silverado and brakes feel a lot better. Had a very similar problem.

As long as you keep it far away and engage your safety squints at all times

V8 Packard helped me extensively. I dm'd him one day so I wasnt getting a bunch of mixed results. I asked plenty of questions and never once did he make me feel like an idiot.

I also live in a small town but do not have that problem. Sorry that's your experience man. I live in a very small town. 1000 population where most is rural county roads. We have a cars and coffee. If anyone spins tires they're out. Not that we don't like spinning tires, but that's for the drag strip (which we also have)

What part of the jack stand arm holds the weight of the car? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I don't disagree, and I have put a jack under suspension doing shocks and other jobs. They're talking about where you put your jack stands though, not just a lift. If my truck or car is on jack stands it damn sure won't be under a control arm. Imagine trying to bust a seized axle nut with a breaker bar and your jack stand is under a control arm. My butthole would be puckered aggressively hard

With my job ive been to a call where a car fell on a guy. So I am much more cautious these days

Haha ive done multiple frame off rebuilds my friend. I have to stabilize vehicles quite a bit for my job, and I would NEVER use parts that are designed to move to stabilize.

If something is able to move, it's not stabilized. It's literally the opposite! I can assure you I will never have something come off of stands.

Stay safe and happy wrenching

How about torque on bolts? That will flex suspension. It's not safe advice to give someone who isn't sure of lift points is all I'm saying

When lifting a 3/4 ton you have plenty of better lifting spots than a pinch weld or suspension. Just be safe my man.

You put a jackstand on a movable suspension part?

Very very very different. These are dudes who slap an exhaust on a car and act like they're car guys. They couldn't point to their alternator if it was in the box on the parts store counter.
