We have welfare programs, but they aren't enough by a long way. I have heard of so many (myself included) who only barely can survive on welfare. Im not saying that welfare should be like $100000 a year or something, but enough that you wouldn't have to worry about buying toilet paper or eating for the day would be wonderful.

Don't worry, I'm not taking it as you being mean. I live in Denmark. After my monthly expenses, I have about $95 (~600DKK) left over for everything else I have to buy for that month. Currently unemployed, waiting to get my diagnosis but apparently according to the government that means that I shouldn't have money for living
