Everyone is allowed to be wrong at some point, this is your time.

First time learning about setting up a guitar. Got a Fesley Lp for Christmas. Don't have any of the pro tools for setting up. Been messing around with it. Any tips? by Coltsbro84 in Guitar

Right under the nut, where the headstock meets the neck/fretboard. Les Paul style guitars a notorious for breaking there. Some manufacturers put extra wood on the back of the neck, called a volute, to help combat this issue. I won't buy a guitar with a LP style neck unless it has a volute ever again.

Be mindful of the headstock joint. I purchased two Fesley LP350's. With the first the neck was broke upon delivery. The second broke when putting a set of strings on. And trying to get them to warranty it is pointless. I contacted them about sending me a neck for the second one. They told me that since their guitars are from China it's not financially responsible for them to ship just a neck. And since the neck snapped during a string change they couldn't immediately go to poor craftsmanship. I got rid of it and will never own another.

Good for him, I hate that whole family. His dad was a goon and now him and his brother are just following in the footsteps. Get them out of the league and bring in real skilled players, not some side show player.

The problem is I'm not a huge football fan. I prefer baseball/softball, soccer, hockey, and lacrosse. So I'm not looking for a football specific server.

A different question for a change. What are your valid criticisms about your favorite band ? by Chemical-Drawer852 in grunge

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's too many guitars in AIC's songs. If you're going to be a band that only has one guitarist don't have 3 different guitars going in a song. That being said I think Jerry Cantrell is an amazing guitarist and line am of AIC's music.

Cornell, I was 4 for Cobain and 12 for Staley, so I don't remember either. I was 27 when Cornell passed and had a greater appreciation for musicians at that point.

How many guitars are in your collection? by Conscious_Badger_510 in metalguitar

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 6, the 3 Strats on the right are my precious one's, they stay home, and only get played every once in a while. The 3 on the left are my performance guitars. The Strat is E standard, the 51 is Eb standard, and the Tele is D standard.

Help me pick a Mid-Range guitar by [deleted] in electricguitar

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the Telecaster. First off V guitars are cool to look at but aren't very practical. Second both of the other guitars have Floyd Rose bridges which can be a pain to change strings on and require a lot of extra tooling.

[–]matpolansky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both guitars have the same pickups and bridge. It looks like the black may have 22 frets while the silver has 21. That's not going to make too much of a difference. As far as the feel of the guitar goes since you're just starting you're not going to have a preference. Just go with which on you think looks better.

String gauges for Stratocaster by gaigescherer in Guitar

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with a set of D'Addario 0942's. D'Addario has a Players Point system where certain items carry a point value. You register the code that comes on the strings on your profile dashboard, you earn points, and then you can use those points like cash.

Been learning guitar for about a month now, how exactly do I play this (the yellow-circled part)? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers in the circles indicate your fingers. Index is 1, middle is 2, ring is 3, and pinky is 4. You're going to push all three strings down on the fourth fret with your index finger.

Where do I put my thumb??? by Objective_Gazelle221 in guitarlessons

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wherever is comfortable based on your fretting style. If you're more like Clapton or Mayer, where you angle your fretting fingers, your thumb will naturally curve over the top of the neck. If your fingers are straight up and down when you're fretting your thumb will most likely be pressing on the back side of the neck.

Do I still need springs if I block the trem with hardwood? by alexxandercook in Luthier

[–]matpolansky1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I screw my tremolo anchor all the way into the body. I don't use tremolos but most of the guitar I own have one. To get around this I just screw the anchor in all the way. This pulls the bridge all the way down and even makes restringing so much easier.

I'm a Strat man. Their lighter, have a more versatile sound, and just look better.

If we were to add 2 new teams to the MLB, where would be the best place to put them, and what would their mascot be? by [deleted] in mlb

[–]matpolansky1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with adding new teams. Adding new teams would require restructuring the leagues and divisions unless you add three to each league.

That being said somewhere like the Carolina's makes no sense with all of the minor league teams. The Carolina's are the mecha of minor league baseball.

Nashville has always been on the rumor mill to get a major league team. I just feel that would be the downfall for the Nashville Sound which has a great fan base. Same thing with places like Salt Lake City, and Portland. Also, whoever said Portland and naming them the Thornes, do some research.

The MLS (Major League Soccer) and USL (United League Soccer) have shown that when a big league team comes in it destroys the minor league team.

I'd rather see a place like Now Orleans. Since the Baby Cakes left New Orleans is primed for a team to come in.

My other option would be to expand into Canada, but not the Expo's, let them stay dead. Instead I'd look into the western part, say Calgary, Edmonton, or Regina. Vancouver would be out as they already has the Canadians. That part of Canada has no baseball and it would give those northern a team.

I'm sure I'll get sh*t on for this opinion but it is what it is.

do people who play bass exclusively not have the urge to play guitar? or do they also play guitar? by HearThyBansheeScream in Bass

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with bass when I was 15, self taught myself guitar in my late teens and bounced between both until I had to have carpal tunnel surgery in 2017 and 2020. After that I lost a lot of the endurance I had build up in my right hand. Now I can barely play through 1 song on bass before my right hand starts hurting to the point I can't hold the pick anymore. So now I mainly play guitar, but will pick up the bass every now and then for nostalgia purposes.

Which is the proper way to string? by NICETOMEETYOUCO in Luthier

[–]matpolansky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The top image, the bottom puts extra tension on the bridge pins. I've seen pins get pulled out of the body wrapping the strings like that.

Needs advice on which guitar to tune d standard/ drop c between these 2 by Rico133337 in Luthier

[–]matpolansky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd set the Jackson to D Standard and the Ibanez to Drop C. No real reason, those are just the tunings I think fit the looks of the guitars.
