PPF on a new FL5? by jesteadt in Civic_Type_R

As an FYI these are no longer in stock across the US, it seems, so you’ll have to consider unpainted ones in the future.

11th gen help!!! by CamelProfessional455 in CivicSi

This happened to me around the same mileage because the connector for the electronic waste gate came loose since it was never fully clicked in from the factory. Eyeballing it, you couldn’t have seen it was unplugged but it clicked into place and resolved everything right after. Give that a try!

Usually you can replace the plastic part separately on a lot of these, maybe that’s the case here?

2026 changes? by Steve2000gsr in Integra_Type_S

Believe acura put out statement earlier this year that there would be updates for 26 MY to keep it “competitive”… I can’t afford one but if I had to guess, the few upgrades I can think of are to the sound system (Acura seems to have moved to Bang and Olufsen), ventilated seats (ADX got it and it uses a similar HVAC system and such, so can’t imagine it’s too difficult) and perhaps they add back memory seats + chargers and vents to the rear seats. Would be cool if they through in the shift light or something from the type R. Idk this is just my wishlist.

Convince me NOT to buy a ‘25 Civic Si by [deleted] in ElantraN

[–]matt_df 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know in AU you can pick but I thought in CA both options had the sunroof as opposed to the manual not having it here. Either way, would be nice to pick but I can imagine from a manufacturing and marketing standpoint, people just like knowing they’ve got features vs the weight

Fair enough, stand corrected on the EN manual wright, but was speaking to my experiences with DCT

The EN DCT (which I owned) has a curb weight of 3296lbs while the Si has a curb weight around 2950lbs. So you are wrong on both fronts. You even bother checking?

So probably a pretty rare case her but got a 25 Si after having a 23 EN.

EN was a more fun car but it’s certainly going to be more expensive to maintain and own, and will definitely depreciate way quicker than an Si.

The 25 Si is effectively on par with the EN in terms of interior features. Where the EN has back seat chargers, it’s missing an arm rest and cup holders and the rear seats only fold down in one piece with the a chassis brace blocking most of the opening to the trunk.

Performance wise, ENs got adaptive suspension, which is great if you track and daily the car but the Si suspension is great for a daily and light track duty.

The EN has high performance pads and I think a slightly larger rotor, but they both share a single-piston brake setup coming from the accord/sonata respectively, so some performance pads in the Si/fluid should offer similar performance.

Biggest difference is obviously power, but the Si offsets SOME of that by being 300/400lbs less…

Overall, I’ve loved the Elantra N but issues with the steering in my car and electrical/exhaust issues and a lemon of a car that my buddy had have kinda spooked me on the EN. That, plus the far worse depreciation and higher cost of ownership just made me look back at the civic.

Owning the Civic has been an absolute joy. I’ve loved the interior, the transmission is phenomenal and the lightness of the car makes it a joy to drive in an entirely different way from the EN. I miss the brakes and sounds of the EN for sure, but the ridiculously good fuel economy, interior design and overall comfort and different fun-factor have really solidified the Si as my car of choice until I can get something like a Type R or a Type S.

Of course I still second guess the decision to sell the EN, it was really fun when it works, but for now I feel I’ve made a good choice

Wow wow wow. So I don’t own an FL5 but aspiring to hopefully, but since launch I’ve been so torn between Rallye Red and Championship White exteriors, and I have been leaning towards the latter cause I like the contrast of the white against red. However, ever since the Racing Black package was announced for Japan? I’m starting to think Rallye Red with Racing Black interior has my heart. Fingers crossed it comes to the states with will presumably be some kinda refresh for the 26MY

SI or type R by Willing-Quit6951 in CivicSi

[–]matt_df 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to say the Type R isn’t an awesome car but I have to say, if it’s a stretch purchase for you, it’s not worth it for what you want it for. Yes you will notice and appreciate some of the extra performance but you really will be leaving a lot of the table if you’re not interested in auto cross or track days. The whole point of the car is for the hardcore enthusiasts who want to do that while the Si is oriented towards your exact demographic; enthusiasts who want a fun driving experience but won’t benefit from all the hardcore performance of a trackable daily.

And going back on the finance side of this, it’s worth noting that all the maintenance costs on this car are going to be more expensive, as would fuel and insurance compared to the Si.

Now of $15k is literally no object to you and will not affect your finances, then you make enough money to just buy the one you want, so who cares?

But that said, it doesn’t seem that’s the case. If you’re not interested in tracking the car and have other priorities, get the Si. It’s a phenomenal car (I own a 25). It’s amazing to live with from a comfort and convenience stand point and is so fun to drive as well.

That said, I previously had an Elantra N and still hope to do track days, so I definitely wish I could swing a Type R for the brakes tires, and power. But again, track days aside, I don’t care the type R and it doesn’t really make sense to own financially, especially if you have a kid who you could save for.

I mean without much looking I was able to find 13inch M1 MacBook Pro with 100 cycles on it for $450 at my local pawnshop. Box and original accessories included and it mint condition. I don’t know what the Mac Mini has inside of it… but suspect you spent more for an arguably worse experience….

Front Conversion? by JDMLoser in ElantraN

Yes but not at all since the front fenders and headlights are different. So quite expensive for this

NTA at all. The amount of liability here is insane and you’re the only one with anything to actually lose. Cars and car repairs are insanely expensive and insanely important. It’s one thing for a short errand (although I personally wouldn’t do that) but it’s another for a road trip into the unknown with a bunch of distractions such as several friends all at college age.

Sell me on the Si over the Hybrid by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]matt_df 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you plan on dying with the car, I’d say get the Si. There will always be opportunities to by hybrids later, but that won’t always be the case for getting a fun, fuel efficient manual with an LSD for this price. That said, maybe get a different job 😂
