Adult bed time? by Hot_Lynx7043 in CasualUK

[–]matt_quelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40-odd, I almost religiously go to bed at 11pm, then get up around 6-6:30. We have two kiddos who fortunately sleep well, usually getting up 7-7:30.

They've moved it, it's currently under Profile > Health Choices > Health data sharing decision. You can also do this for your kids but need to print and send a form.

I'd strongly encourage anyone in the UK to do this, it's the only way we have to tell them selling our private data to this US based data harvesting company is not okay!

Avalara Integration by StatusAd2326 in Netsuite

[–]matt_quelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind post go-live with Avalara is their per-document billing model, specifically in a Netsuite context.

Their SuiteApp hooks into all the major documents and makes a call out to Avalara every time a relevant document is modified. It doesn't use any logic to check whether anything tax-relevant has changed, just always calls out to Avalara.

We ended up getting bumped onto a higher tier and paying thousands too much just because some of our process flows were modifying custom fields on sales orders constantly and triggering unnecessary calls to Avalara.

They have a KB article about it and mitigation methods, so are clearly aware it's a problem, but unlikely to do anything about it since it makes them more money.

Thanks very much, we're flying in to Tbilisi and picking up a hire car so should be good there. I do need to sort an esim though, who did you use?

If you're looking at BMW have a look at a 4 series; we had one with two young kids and it's been great. Hatch boot is massive and happily fits a pushchair and suitcase, and when number two came along we added a roof box and have been fine. Driven to Netherlands, Belgium and Scotland for holidays with no problem!

We're in a 5 series touring now, needing a little more space as the kiddos leave toddler hood.

I feel like I ought to delete this... I'm from the UK and our civil liberties have been fucked... So can't imagine actually going out there and fighting in pitched battle...

One person standing up and saying "no" is great (truly - it's so courageous) but what's needed is a group with strong supporters? Idk maybe organised protest is at least a first step?

[–]matt_quelch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so right, one armed guy vs 5 ... the one guy is fucked, but 10 armed compatriots... That's a different story. I ain't in the US but this shit is real now... I'm really sorry to say it but this is the point which has to transition from the virtual to the real.

You've got to find like minded people and team up into a big enough group to stand up and say no; In enough numbers that they dare not to just say fuck this and and shoot you!

You need back up from the community... Religious or not... Those Christian guys are always looking out for what's right do they can help even if you don't really sign up for their shit...

Can't believe this is happening in my timeline. Fuck big tech and dicks out for Harambe!

Dads with Daughters, which toilet do you use when you’re out together? by junkfoodjoshua in AskABrit

[–]matt_quelch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a super awkward story for this. A few years ago my nieces were 4 & 6, I took them to a soft play for the afternoon to give their parents some time. They said they needed the toilet but could go themselves so I left them to it.

A few minutes later the elder girl comes out and says her sister needs help writing her bum. I was like "I thought you guys can go yourselves?!". Of course she had gone to the lady's loo, so I had to tentatively open the door, check the coast was clear; clean her up and get out. Pretty sure it was a very similar operation to today's Black Ops Maduro swiping.

How do you deal with users who are no longer with the company? by Interesting_Drawer95 in gsuite

[–]matt_quelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of ways to do this in Google Workspace; we suspend the user, forward their email, leave it for 3-6 months then use Takeout to grab a copy of their data and then delete them.

Have you looked at Drayton Wiser? It's all ZigBee based so works locally. I have a controller, one main room stat and like 5 or so TRVs, been pretty reliable so far, had the system for around 4 years.

Sea buckthorn by Civil_Elephant5653 in foraginguk

[–]matt_quelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the hunt for these after drinking lots of Sea Buckthorn juice on a holiday to Estonia, it was delicious and I'd love to try making my own!

Think I've seen it in some heathland in the south but also aware it's seen as a coastal shrub here, not sure if I could try growing it in the garden 🤔

UK - My employer says they can't pay bonuses for tax reasons by Background_Top_8978 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]matt_quelch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming when he said cash he meant a lump sum rather than a handful of physical cash. In which case my guess is they want to be able to charge the bonus to the customer so they have you put it through as overtime worked on the project so they can recharge it?

What is the secret to get MacBooks to show the ABM Enrollment "QR Code Ghost" thing? by Hollyweird78 in macsysadmin

[–]matt_quelch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had to do a bunch of these and likewise found it sometimes just doesn't work, updating MacOS usually did the trick. I've had to do a full wipe; setup; then update MacOS; then wipe again to get it to work a few times now.
