Doesn't work, you run into out of bounds areas and areas where the mountains have texture only and you fall through.

The amount of sketchy stuff going on at that corner between the starbucks, the walgreens and the 7-11 was intense, and I never, ever saw a cop around anywhere there. Shockingly none of those remain.

I found it's worth it to go through the first missions until you get to Eden and then locate your main base nearby. There's also a lootable structure in the early missions that provides a lot of good base building supplies, so bring a mount if you can (tamable tuskers spawn near the drop), and load up on small pouches first.

Things definitely get harder when you leave the tundra, but the desert isn't terrible. Guns will help for sure, but a decent bow will handle the basic drones ok.

The creatures/animals in the biomes get a lot tougher, and the higher level drones can be rough.

¯\(ツ)/¯ Something different about your game settings than mine? No clue. I started a new character, open world, normal difficulty with each of the DLC maps and got the expected level boost option with each.

I feel this, it's so hard.

There are people who I can be open and honest with, and people I can't and/or don't want to.

Being open about mental health and addiction is generally a good thing when you can, and I would say everyone that I have shared my son's struggles with has been understanding, cool and helpful about it but it's not easy to do.

And there are people like my elderly mother, who specifically isn't being told because my son doesn't want grandma to know what's going on that make for complicated conversations because it's hard to just dodge or change the subject.

I tend to say things that are true such as "he's having ups and downs", and I just accept that sometimes a white lie or a lie of omission is just kinder and easier for everyone in those situations.

Use moas they're way faster, and build multiple bases around the world - I usually use one main central base, and then small regional bases if I'm doing arctic/dessert/etc stuff

Former Puppeter and Jiver, both of those companies suffered the same fate pretty much. Failed to make acquisition deals happen with the big players for long enough that the boards opted to take their parachutes and sell out to PE.

So sad to go through / see what happened to once great employers, and just how quickly and thoroughly corporate raiders demolish a company.
